Back from cruise from Boston

We just returned from a cruise on the RCI JEWEL departing from Boston to Canada. there were 2 other ships in port. We boarded from a n unheated whare house. I'm in a w/c and we are diamond class. It took 35 minutes from the time we got to the line outside the terminal until we were on board the ship. We paid a porter $5 to take our bags and avoided a long line. That was about noon time. We went into the terminal and was escorted to a line for w/c and or Diamond members. We handed the agent our paper work and in less than 5 minutes we were having our pictures taken for our sea pass cards. We were directed to a large elevator and on the ship. We were told we could not go to our room until 4 pm. They had a small virus outbrak and had to sanitize the whole ship. We had to put sanitizer on our hands every time we entered or left any area that served food. They handed you a plate and napkin and flat ware when you entered the Windjammer. That was another precaution to revent passengers from touching other plates. I am happy to see that the virus was gone.

Now the bad part. Many passengers spent up 2 1/2 hours sitting on cold chairs waiting to have their numkbers called. They said it was totally disorganized. The people working in the terminal/wharehouse were not RCCL EMPLOYEES. That is no excuse. Many of the people were first time cruisers and even though the actual cruise went smoothly it left a bad taste. We were in one of the nice terminals when we returned.

Love to hear about your cruise as well as just how bad the embarkation was for some people.

My special interest is we sail Maasdam every summer, b-to-b, Boston to Montreal to Boston, so it would have been great to compare.

Did you like the ports?

Welcome back.

The cruise line (in this case RCI) should make it clear to port authorities that this situation is unacceptable and if it is not fixed they will not return to Boston.

We have boarded many times (during summer) at Black Falcon Cruise Terminal.

It is currently being remodeled and a large renovation is underway. This is certainly end of season and the work needs to be done.

We are accustomed to checking in on level two but now it will be on three.
