Pam in CA Posted November 4, 2010 #3 Share Posted November 4, 2010 Clear glass. The only balconies with metal balcony railings are the Sun-class ships (not sure about the Ocean/Royal/Pacific) because on those ships, the balconies are cut out of the hull. The balconies furthest aft on the Grand-class ships have a half-glass/half-metal railing. The metal railing part is at the back of the balcony looking aft. I'll post photos later of what I mean. Colo Cruiser Posted November 5, 2010 #5 Share Posted November 5, 2010 There are some solid metal balcony railings forward, it depends where your cabin is.
rdsqrl Posted November 5, 2010 #6 Share Posted November 5, 2010 Are you sure the glass is clear? I don't know why but I thought it had a faint blue tint? Or maybe that's my blue-tinted contact lenses . . .
Mac7881 Posted November 5, 2010 #7 Share Posted November 5, 2010 There is definitly a blue tinge to the balconies.
BigGuy25 Posted November 5, 2010 #8 Share Posted November 5, 2010 Clear glass. The only balconies with metal balcony railings are the Sun-class ships (not sure about the Ocean/Royal/Pacific) Just fyi ... The smaller R-class ships have several metal bars that make up the outside balcony wall. I actually prefer these because they don't pick of the sea salt spray that often somewhat clouds the view through the glass walled balconies. Also, the bars make a great place to rest your feet as you sit back to enjoy the sea. But, as said, only the Pacific, Ocean, etc.) have this style of railing. Colo Cruiser Posted November 5, 2010 #9 Share Posted November 5, 2010 There are some solid metal balcony railings forward, it depends where your cabin is. To clarify the wall where the glass would be is solid steel, have to stand up to see out. ;)

And the aft balcony cabins on the smaller R-Class ships have a 'solid' steel balcony wall, no railings. ;)
