The hotel is very convenient for a one night stay to the ports. The area around the hotel is not the nicest so would not recommend staying here if you are planning on visiting Athens Plaka (centre) area.

Would have to say that this is probably the nicest hotel in the Pireaus area, huge rooms, comfy beds, friendly staff. « less s5.0.gif“Most comfortable bed in Greece.” Sep 16, 2009 Colgeo, Australian We loved this hotel. Staff were friendly & helpful and rooms were clean, large and tastefully decorated, with a large TV and air conditioning. There is a very nice courtyard... more »

We too will be arriving for a cruise out the next day. Thinking of staying in Piraeus for the night, then catching the metro into Athens for the sights. The hotel that was suggested did not show up on the link. Could you give us the name again.

You're not far from the port and the shops...it's a town centre hotel. We've had trouble with taxis because of not reading our alphabet....we nipped into the tourist centre at Piraeus station, who wrote out the name of our Piraeus hotel in the Greek alphabet! I think most taxis will know the Best Western, though.

The old port of Piraeus is not bad at all - there are some very pleasant walks , cafes & restaurants down by the Marina which can be a pleasant change from the sometimes frantic nature of Athens. If you have been to Athens before then Piraeus could make a very pleasant change - there is also a very interesting archaeological museum.

This link offers you a list of Piraeus Hotel, shorted by price (cheapest are the ones on top) You can made an online reservation even last minute

If the cheapest are at the top then that suggests the hotels at the end of the list are the most expensive. Back in 2006 I stayed in the Savoy; those with a keen eye will note its position as the penultimate hotel on the list.

Perhaps we were exceptionally unlucky and had the only poor room in the hotel but I doubt it. We stayed there near the end of the three week road trip across Europe where we'd overnighted in a dozen hotels in six or seven countries ranging from 3* to 5*. Apart from one very odd exception (a German sanatorium masquerading as a hotel) it was easily the poorest hotel of the trip. The room was shabby and unloved, the bathroom design meant that the fixtures didn't actually fit the room and the plumbing was inadequate.

I shudder just remembering that hotel.
