Hi, we did a trip with Cool runnings catamaran, out of barbados, snorkling with the turtles etc. Really recommend it. Well run and good value for money. We did out selves and booked on line. Katy

We have just returned from the Azura tranatlantic and did this trip on the first of our two days in Barbados. Excellent and saw lots of turtles very close up. Diving over a reef and wreck also included and lots of fish. Plenty of food and drink included. Only downside was that ***** the way back the music was very very loud and almost every one went onto the deck of the catamaran to escape the worst of it.

we did this on our own....

we had a taxi to holetown beach, recommended by taxi driver.

whilst there, guy asked us if we wanted to swim with turtles, we said maybe later. He had couple of boats, with glass bottom, and upper sun deck. we watched several people come and go, so in the end decided to have a go.

we had the boat to ourselves (3 girls) and 2 crew, 1 who was in the water with us at all times, and we had the most fantastic time.

we were kitted out with the lifejackets, and spent just under 2 hours in and out of the boat, at a couple of different locations. We only paid

20 dollars each,... bargain, and treated so respectfully, and it was our own personal tour. Will definatley do that again, when we go next year.

A group of us did this through Silver Moon Barbados. It was fabulous and because they only take small groups it was much more rewarding than the P&O trip. Quite a luxurious catamaran compared to some we've been on, with lovely food & drinks included, plus they colected us from teh cruise terminal & took us back there afterwards. Can't recommend them enough.

We booked by email and paid on the day. $50/60 rings a bell

Your posts re doing it alone are really interesting. :)

We have been sewn the seed by P&O which has worked; that the ship won't wait if we are late and not on a ships tour. :(

So, very worried about that. Is it a problem do you think

We did it diy 2 weeks ago in barbados,we bought the snorkel and mask for under £10 on the ship and asked a taxi driver just off the ship for the nearest turtle beach which was 15 mins drive $20 return so the whole family swam with the turtles for less than the ship was charging for one person:Dif you ask the taxi driver they will take you and pick you up at the arranged time,we cant remember the beach name but tell the taxi driver its the one that roman abromavich(dont think i spelt that right)lol has built the mansion next to,its a lovely beach with bars resteraunt and shower facilities so well worth the visit.

Hi,

Thanks for the information.

Please could you tell me how far out you have to swim to see the turtles?

Can you touch the bottom?

Are turtles just there, or do you have to wait for a tour boat to come and feed them?

Any thing else you can think of tell me?

We would love to do this DIY, just abit concerned as we are not strong swimmers.

Many thanks

On the beach i told you about the turtles were around 20 metres out although you can not touch the bottom there are 2 glass bottom boats that will take you out and you can either swim from the boat or look through the glass bottom, they offered us a price of $30 for 4 of us but we did it diy, make shure you barter with the skippers of the boats its surprising how quickly the price drops if you dont show any interest the price started at $70 for us.

Hi forgot to add ,the turtles were there all the time we were on the beach which was around 5 hours, they were great fun take a hold of them and its a free ride around the bay,if you go out on the glass bottom boat they will supply you with the buoyancy jackets so no worries about not being a good swimmer.
