Redeeming RCCL Visa Points for OBC

I looked on my statement and on BofA website and can't find out what the phone number or website is to go about redeeming my points into OBC.

I'm sure it's been asked before, but searching "visa" is not too helpful (since there are a ton of posts about government visas).

I'd really appreciate anyone who could steer me in the right direction.

TIA!

The number for BofA is 1-800-421-2110. Request a certificate for a 10,000 points redemption or whatever 5000 point increments you have. The number for RCI Points Redemption is 1-888-305-4626.

When you get your certificate, there will be a certificate number on it. Call RCI Points Redemption, give them the number and how you want the certificate used ...then fill out the certificate, check off the proper box, MAKE A COPY, and send to the address given.

You need to use "their lingo". You can't ask for $400 OBC, they don't know what you are talking about. Here's what to say now: "Hi, I'd like to redeem my Royal Caribean Visa Reward points. I'd like 1- 25,000 point coupon and 3 -5,000 point coupons." Or whatever it is that I want. The folks at BoA won't know what you are talking about if you ask for the free robe certificate, or the picnic basket certificate, but if you ask for the point value and the number of coupons you want, they should know what you want without hassle.

Plan about 3-4 weeks to get all the steps done to redeem your points for OBC. Here is the number to call to start the process: 1 800-421-2110. They will send you a form and exactly what you need to do.

Thanks for the detailed description, Sue. I've done it many times but the "use their lingo" advice is excellent. I am about to call in and request certificates for our January cruise (I think, as with the triple points for paying off our Seapass account the prudent thing to do would be to keep the OBC low...UNLESS BofA changes their program and makes me wish I had gotten all the OBC possible when I could!). Anyhow, enough rambling. Can you remind me how long the certificates are good for once I've received them? If possible I may send in some for our Jan cruise and some for the March cruise I'm thinking of booking.

you must apply them within 6 months, the cruise can be further off but they must be applied in that time period

I just went through this process and it seems more cumbersome than necessary. I don't know why you need to call...order certificates...have them send you certificates...then you fill out the back of the certificates...copy the certificates...mail the certificates...wait and hope they don't get lost in the mail or sit on someone's desk on the other end.

I have other credit card rewards programs where you simply ask for the reward you want via a call or on-line and it is done. No mailing back and forth. (In this day and age, who mails things, anyway??)

Plus...when do you know they actually received the certificates and if the OBC was actually applied?

The requesting, then waiting for the certificates. Fill them out, mail them back, and more waiting. Couldn't they simplify the process and make it available on-line. Nothing shows on your account to indicate that are processed. I did call C&A to confirm that the OBC had been posted for upcoming cruise.

We've never called, just filled them out and sent them in. OBC has always showed up. I suppose you might want to call if time is short, but I doubt they're really doing anything at RCCL's end until they actually receive the certs.

About 6 weeks after I sent in my certificates I emailed C&A and gave them our C&A #s, booking #, sail date, ship -- all the standard info -- and asked if our BofA OBC had been applied......took 2-3 days and they emailed back that it had!

The number to call is on the back of your credit card. Once I discovered that, I knew I never had to worry about where to find it again.

To find out if your certificates have been applied to your booking you just request another Confirmation Invoice from RCI be emailed to you and under "Booking Charges" the code C30C - $$$ OBC P-P (substitute $$$ for the dollar amount) will appear. This indicates that it has been applied to your booking.

How far out would you start this process? I'm cruising in March and want to redeem 100,000 points. Should I contact BofA in January, wait to get them a few weeks, then send to RCCL? Or is the process quicker than that?

Certificates must be used within 6 months of their being issued.

Certificates, when received by RCI, are applied to bookings from the earliest sailings to the latest sailings so for your cruise in March, redeeming your points in January is a good time.

Usually takes 7-10 business days to receive them.

yes that would be $400 dollars, and you will have to leave the 2000 for next time or quickly spend 3k to get to the next level:D

between the day after THANKSGIVING and the final payment for our cabin on the liberty getting to another $3000 should be very do able...that would take us to $450 OBC plus the $200 the RCCL gave us when we moved from the Freedom to the Liberty...that should more then cover the bar bill...specialty restuarants...casino...and a couple of excursions...LIFE IS GOOD...

Has anyone redeemed their points for one of the free cruises? We're thinking about using 50,000 points for the free 4 night cruise and I was curious how the redemption of points went for that. If you've booked the cruise, does RC just refund what money you've given them? Any insight is greatly appreciated! This would be the first time we've redeemed any of our points. Thanks!
