Has anyone recently used the Ultimate Whale Watching group? Interested in going with them next month in Maui but haven't been able to find recent comments about them. Also anyone know about tendering in Maui? We are going on the Golden Princess and need to know if we can make an 8:45 tour if we tender in the a.m.Thanks for any comments.

What is your port time?? Frankly, tender lines can be extensive, as it is a priority for many to get a full day in Maui. If you have a 6-7am port time, then most likely you would make it.

We booked with them in 2009. Our blog below for Hawaii 2009 Mercury has pictures and descriptions. They are a great company, very knowledgeable and the zodiac was really fun. They are also very respectful of the pods and follow the laws regarding how close to the whales you can get so they do not interfere with the groups.

As far as making the early time, I personally book a bit later so you can have a nice breakfast, go to shore and maybe look around a bit before your tour. I think ours was around noon. We had plenty of time to shop and get back to the ship.

We are going back to Hawaii in 2012..........Ugh! Way too long to wait. But we plan on booking two tours back to back so we can have more time on in the bay with the whales!

Have a blast.

Hi Lin

A question about your Ultimate Whale Watch experience. Two years ago we went on a whale watch with Island Star Excursions. It was also on a zodiac and we had a wonderful time. They had a microphone that they lowered into the water and we could hear the whales "singing" to each other. We LOVED the trip and were going to go with them again this winter when we're in Hawaii.

Did your trip have the microphone?
