nutcrackers Posted December 27, 2010 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2010 We have not been in any of the smaller bars/lounges for shows, only the larger theatres on the Golden and Crown Princess. Can you go into the smaller ones just for entertainment or are you expected to be sitting around with purchased drinks as you watch the shows or dance? Thanks! hop_along Posted December 27, 2010 #2 Share Posted December 27, 2010 Our experience (Island Princess) was that they definitely expected and encouraged it, but weren't terribly insistent or obnoxious about it. We had the occasional drink but didn't feel obliged to order a lot of things when we didn't want to.
Toto2Kansas Posted December 27, 2010 #3 Share Posted December 27, 2010 If you feel uncomfortable not ordering a drink, order a glass of water. That way you won't be asked if you would like another drink, or repeatedly asked if you would like a drink. ;)
1 HappyCruiser Posted December 27, 2010 #4 Share Posted December 27, 2010 We've never ordered a drink in the smaller lounges but once they ask you they'll leave you along to watch the show. They're not at all that pushy to sell drinks.
LARGIN Posted December 27, 2010 #5 Share Posted December 27, 2010 Drinks are not a requirement in any of the showrooms or lounges. Just sit back and relax. You will not be hassled..

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. We will be on the Golden in nine days and are so looking forward to the trip!
SkyMaster Posted December 27, 2010 #7 Share Posted December 27, 2010 I totally agree with the folks above. I almost NEVER buy a drink in the smaller lounges, and have never been hassled, or harassed to buy. They usually ask once, and I decline, then they leave me alone to enjoy the entertainment. NO PROBLEM! ;) "SKY"
cormike1 Posted December 28, 2010 #8 Share Posted December 28, 2010 We were on the Golden in Nov. and there were 10 of us in our party. Some ordered, some didn't but they were not pushy about ordering...sometimes we just poped in to wait for someone and if they asked and we said no, there ws no problem. Enjoy the show and don't worry.
Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted December 28, 2010 #9 Share Posted December 28, 2010 There is no expectation that you'll order a drink, and we generally don't. However, this is another reason we enjoy purchasing soda stickers on every cruise...when asked if we want a drink, we'll sometimes show our stickers and order sodas. And, while we used to have an issue actually getting them, especially in the Princess Theater, I'm happy to say that on our last few cruises, we've always received them. Same with the British Pub Lunch...they certainly serve a lot of beers to those who dine there, but not to us. Again, it's a soda or water.
SeaTeach Posted December 28, 2010 #10 Share Posted December 28, 2010 A "no thank" with a smile has worked for us. Sometimes they'd check again, but most times we were left alone to enjoy the show.
