We are booked on the Radiance from Sydney to Perth in October

2011.The next cruise is Perth via Adelaide to NZ and Sydney, as we live in Adelaide, does antbody think RCI would sector the Perth Sydney cruise, don't want to book my flights from Perth then find they sector it as i could spend another 5 nights on board.

I confess that I'm not sure what you mean by "sector" in this context. However, if you are asking if there is a possibility that RCI will break up the 18-nighter into smaller segments, I would doubt it (although anything is possible ...).

If I'm completely off on your meaning of "sector," I apologize. :o I'm reasonably bright, but this term is new to me. DH and I are booked on the Perth to Sydney cruise. If you decide to book that cruise, as well, I'll look forward to meeting you on the Roll Call and on board. :D ~ LL

I would say it's very unlikely. It's usually only world/longer cruises that tend to get the early departures/late boardings that bring that about, or it may also be done to attempt to sell off shorter segments when the longer ones don't sell well enough. Neither will apply in this case.

LL you got it right first time, because i've just noticed that the QM2 has sectored from Perth to Adelaide aswell, whereas on the initial announcement it wasn't. think we'll wait until the last minute to book the flights, anyway are you you on the Sydney Perth sector?, we're on that Roll Call,

I wish ... In fact, I wish I was on the cruise that starts in Vancouver! :p Unfortunately, I'm going to have a hard enough time explaining the 3 weeks we will be gone, to my clients, as it is!

Since I'm declaring you an expert on Australian travel, can you give me some advice, please? It has been recommended that I book a round-trip flight from SFO to Sydney and then do a "local" flight from Sydney to Perth. If you agree, what airline would you recommend for the 1-way? Do you have the equivalent of Southwest or JetBlue (economy airlines) in Australia? Thanks!!! :D ~ Lorna

Last year when we flew Perth to Sydney after our Rhapsody cruise we used Virgin Australia. Very reasonably priced.

We flew with Qantas from Perth to Sydney after our Feb/March cruise. Economy seats seemed wider and where we were continuing on to North America they did not charge for the extra baggage even though were were flying United. Prices were reasonable

It depends on airline preference that you're using internationally. Doing it that way will give you a couple of extra travel options - but it will also put some conditions on your trip, primarily that you will not have an included baggage allowance and will need to transfer yourself on the domestic to a separate terminal (unless you travel with Qantas), plus you are responsible for making the connection, not the airline if it is late (may or may not affect you depending on your itinerary).

I’d prefer to book it all in one if I could, but the price difference may make it worthwhile to DIY.

these are the 3 main ones we use for domestic flights, look out for their specials, virgin have a happy hour around noon each day, also tiger airways http://www.tigerairways.com/au/en/real_deals.php are available but can be a bit erratic at times, remember that checked in baggage is around $10 to $20 extra.

Thanks, to all. I should have said that we are probably going to spend a day or so in Sydney, to decompress from the flight from SFO (I hate the thought of leaving on Thursday and arriving on Saturday ... I know ... International Dateline  ... but still ).

We're looking at Quantas from SFO or V Australia from LAX, for the round-trip. I was happy to see another airline enter the US to Australia market! :D
