Guarantee cabin question

When you book a guarantee and are assigned a cabin... can you change to a different cabin within that catagory to which you were assigned if one is available or do you have to keep the assigned cabin?

We booked a Cat G guarantee and were assigned a Cat FF cabin. Last week I tried to change to a Cat F (which is lower than Cat FF) because we liked the location of the Cat F cabin better. According to our TA, Princess wanted to up charge us the difference between a Cat G and a Cat F in order to do the change. I said NO WAY!

Usually yes, within the catagory.

I agree with Pia. If there are other staterooms WITHIN the category you were assigned, then you can have them move you. You normally can't move up or down categories, but within the same category, we have done it before.

We booked in November for a cruise on Crown this January. Booked an AE guarantee and were assigned an AC at the very front of the ship. Checked on Princess website and saw that a couple of AC cabins were available towards the aft and our travel agent got us switched without a problem.

It could be anytime right up until arrival at the pier. Keep checking your personalizer to see if it shows up.

I thought about asking our TA to switch our cabin after it was assigned. There were several available that were closer to the middle of the ship. It turned out we were lucky not to have switched. There were chain-smoking passengers in the cabin that would have been beside us. It was bad enough to walk past their cabin.
