Dream BBQ

Is the BBQ on the Promenade deck open every day? What are the hours? Is it operating on the day we embark? Is the menu the same every day? Are there lounge chairs to lay on near the hot tubs? Lot of questions, hope someone has answers, thanks.

My guess..it's probably 'grilling' and not the 'real low and slow' BBQ.

I am a competition BBQ judge with KCBS and Florida BBQ Association

and can tell you that the term BBQ is being used nowadays by everybody

because of recent popular reality TV series.

Real BBQ is slow-cooked/smoked about 225 degrees for hours.

Also, the line gets real long, so get there early! It was raining one day and people were still standing outside in the line to get some.

And those unfortunate souls sitting on their private (:rolleyes:) Deck 6 balconies get to 'enjoy' the grill smoke, and the unplanned conversations, for hours, with those passengers standing in that rather long line just a few few feet below them.

Yes, that it what we have booked for July.... Can't wait to cruise, try the BBQ (though it is probably not a real slow cooked BBQ) but it will still be a nice change from other food on board...Ane our Cove too.. :)

The ribs at the bbq were pretty decent. And yes, they were quick grilled, not slow-cooked. Lines weren't bad at all when we cruised - I think a lot of people didn't know about it, as it is in a kinda "out of the way" location.

Hey Maxxedout2....

I am really into BBQing as well...

I love it low and slow got a few questions to ask if you dont mind.

can you email me please

Email sent.....

OK, y'all got me thinking BBQ....makin' me huuungry!

So, hey, here's a pic showing how slow cooking gives a pink

'smoke ring' to the ribs...one good way to tell it was

done slow.

BTW, my secret to juicy ribs like these is keep

the meat temp from going over 212....need 170 to cook safely

and the fat renders to gelatin at about 195...but keep meat from

going over 212 and steam forming in each cell....perfect.

See attached pic of one of my summertime Q;s.

Judge,

Here's the grills they use;

They grill for a couple of hours before they open for passengers. Once they do open, it's non stop;

I'm not sure how many grills they would need in order to grill everything for hours for a few thousand people, but they move a lot of food;
