Alaska Rainforest Sanctuary in Ketchikan

Has anyone been here? I'm looking for opinions; did you like it? dislike? see any wildlife? etc. Thanks!

we did a rain forest walk here. We walked along a short trail. It was very pretty, we didn't see any wildlife but we did see a lot of fresh bear poop.

There are bears out there. You just have to get lucky. On the other side of the cove is the Whitman Lake Fish Hatchery. That's what draws all the bears to the area.

Wow, I love the bear pictures. All we saw was poop, though it was very fresh. I'm so jealous!

The other "problem" with the sightings, is the time. Bears are more often out at dawn and dusk. Overall, this "tour" has low sighting stats for bears.

 

If you want to greatly hedge your bets, then look at a fly in, very high sighting stats.

If your out at the Rainforest Sanctuary your best chance for seeing any bears are the late afternoons during a low tide. I would not count on this tour to produce actual bear viewing experiences.
