Gypsyfeet Posted January 29, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2011 We just got our cabin assignment and it is directly across the hall from the laundromat. Will we hear a lot of noise, day and night? I'm a light sleeper and I'm worried there will be lots of activity, chatter, etc right outside my door. Any one have any experience with this? Thanks in advance! aquilegia Posted January 29, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 29, 2011 I've been almost opposite the laundromat and it's been just fine (and very convenient if you want to pop in and iron something). I can't recall any noise. It's not open all night, it closes by 10pm.
robtulipe Posted January 29, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 29, 2011 Yes the hours of operation for the self service laudormats are approximately 8AM to 10PM. The opening schedule is usually posted at the entrances.
sunsetbeachgal Posted January 29, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 29, 2011 What ship are you on? The only laundry rooms that I would steer clear of being located right next/across from are on the Ocean Princess as they are busy night and day since that is the only one on the ship. paul929207 Posted January 29, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 29, 2011 The problem with the laundry rooms isn't the noise from the machines, it is the people. Sometimes there are disagreements that can spill into the hall.

Caribbean Sunsets Posted January 29, 2011 #7 Share Posted January 29, 2011 I've stayed in cabins in very close proximity to the laundry and have never been bothered by noise.
echotumi Posted January 29, 2011 #8 Share Posted January 29, 2011 never heard anything and loved how close it was ..when we can now we look to book across from it . on long cruises
Infi Posted January 29, 2011 #9 Share Posted January 29, 2011 We had a cabin right next door to the laundry room on our Med cruise. I, too, was worried about the noise factor. We never heard a peep. The hours of operation restrict any nighttime activity and during the day it was quiet, too. It was extremely convenient for doing laundry, too - easy to pop in and check if the machines were busy, which they usually were!
never2late Posted January 29, 2011 #10 Share Posted January 29, 2011 We were directly across from the laundry room on the Sapphire, Aloha deck, and never heard a thing. I think I saw one or two people enter the laundry room as we were leaving our cabin, but that was it. I intend to book close to the laundry room again as it was very convenient. Enjoy your cruise! :)

Double door entry, as I recall. You'll meet only the best people there. And an excellent place to keep up with all the gossip.:D
orilian Posted January 29, 2011 #12 Share Posted January 29, 2011 We were acroos the hall on our last cruise and I am going to ask for that room again! You had to open the door to see if the machines were in use! So easy and convenient! Enjoy your GREAT LOCATION! Karen
FritzG Posted January 29, 2011 #13 Share Posted January 29, 2011 We also try to book as close to the laundry room as possible on the large ships. We've never had any problems with noise, and on some ships the laundry rooms are not locked at night. DH has been able to start a load of laundry as early as 6 a.m. on the Ruby several times. VT Hokie Cruiser Posted January 29, 2011 #14 Share Posted January 29, 2011 Speaking of noisy disagreements in the laundry room... We were on a cruise a few years ago where a woman left her stuff in the dryer and it wasn't running and people were waiting. Somebody got tired of waiting and placed the woman's stuff on a table and went on to use that dryer. The first user came in and went NUTS, screaming on and on "You touched my things!" It was ridiculous. Her nickel ran out and SHE was the problem and couldn't be reasoned with. Rude, rude, rude.
1 HappyCruiser Posted January 29, 2011 #15 Share Posted January 29, 2011 You should be fine...I wouldn;t worry to much about it :) Wow. You sure must like the Ruby. It is a nice ship & the time we were on it it had the best food of any Princess ship we had previously been on. :)

Putterdude Posted January 29, 2011 #17 Share Posted January 29, 2011 All of the laundries that I have seen have a double door with a vestibule in between the doors and I have never heard any noise coming from the laundry.

Gypsyfeet Posted January 30, 2011 Author #19 Share Posted January 30, 2011 Thanks so much to all of you for the reassurance! I am thrilled to be so near to the machines. No dragging bags of laundry thru the halls! Really looking forward to our first Princess cruise. Thanks again!
