Carnival Valor?

As a newbie cruiser, I'm really interested to hear more about the Valor and your experiences. My husband and I just finished up our Carnival Dream cruise and had a wonderful experience! I can say that the critiques on CC were spot on, so now I'm wondering what you all have to say about the Valor. On the Dream we had a balcony and went "all out" - on the Valor we'll have an inside room as there were no more balcony's left during our trip and we're a bit more budget conscious but wanted to get away before DH starts his residency in July and this trip fit the bill.

Do you have any tips? Hints?

This is a 7 day Western Caribbean cruise leaving from Miami.

Thanks!

I think you'll have a great time! We had a fantastic cruise on Valor. It's not layed out very well, and doesn't accommodate crowded areas very well, so give yourself a few extra minutes to get to/from activities.

They had some great musicians throughout the ship, but production shows, commedians and magic acts were not memorable.

NYtraveller and ehfl thank you very much!

NY - read your review - thank you for taking the time to write out such a wonderful review! We were going back and forth between FOS and the Valor and ultimately chose the Valor because FOS would have been nearly double the cost. We knew that FOS was more elegant and a bit more upscale, but after reading your review, all the hesitations that I had are now out the window. Thanks a bunch for putting our minds at ease! Much appreciated :)

If you are getting an inside cabin, I would suggest looking at # 7345 on the empress, # 8357 on the verandah, or # 6393 on the upper deck. These are the lowest priced 1A cabins, but there is extra room in them because they are next to an electrical room and the laundry. The beds are in line with the hallway, (not facing the door) so if you have any movement, it becomes a rocking sensation. You will have room on each side to get in and out of bed too. These cabins are slightly aft, so they are just off the adult pool/hot tub area, the lido dining, the casino, and one of the MDR.

You are so welcome! Honestly, the Valor also has a type of elegance as well. The atrium is simply stunning, and the Seaside Theater is really great - a "must-do" on a warm, breezy Caribbean night! Have you found out who your cruise director is yet?

I would have to recommend 9202 or 9203 for an inside cabin. They're HUGE. HUGE room....HUGE bathroom....HUGE shower. It turned out the one we stayed in 9202 was handicapped accessible.

The other nice thing is that right across the hall, there is a door that leads out onto a huge deck area. This is right above the bridge deck. Hardly anyone ever used it, except for crew.

It was really nice to be able to get up in the morning and step right outside to check out the weather and view.

We were on her Oct 2010 ! Loved the ship very clean and the crew people were super nice. The "floating" entertainment such as the singers by the casino and such weren't so good. The main theater shows were great.. over all my favorite out of 4 ships that I have been on. Would sail on it again in a heartbeat.

Valor was a nice ship, no complaints from me really. Here's a link to a bunch of pics I took on the Valor last year.

We've been on the Valor twice. The most recent cruise ended 3 weeks ago. Love her!

Just remember 5th Deck - Promenade...it runs the full length of the ship. The ship is set up kind of choppy and this is the only deck that takes you from fron to back!

we were on the valor september 09, and we loved it so much we booked the trip again. We have cruised RCCL and disney, and i don't think that the valor pales to rccl. We had better service, better food, and DS thought the kids programs were better as well. You will have a fun time. We love the balconies and book them usually, but the times when we were on an inside we had fun as well. The best part to an inside is the cabins are so dark, perfect for sleeping in or napping. The itinerary is great. Lots of fun interesting ports to explore. We would not look back at rccl, but we keep winning gift certificates to them from my husbands work. This last one, we sold and we are applying it to carnival:p I hope that you have fun.:)

We just booked the Valor on Tuesday (sailing on Feb 20th)... It will be our platinum cruise and our first time in an interior room... we leave in a few weeks, so I'm trying to soak in all the info I can in this short time!

Valor is in drydock right now, getting all spiffed up with new carpeting etc.

Apparently they are also adding a Serenity adults only area, too.

They are also adding Captains Suites if you happen to have a spare $5K or so:D

I went on the Valor in September and had an interior room and loved it. The previous cruise had an oceanview, and we just didn't use it, and with an interior room it stays dark! So if you like to sleep in, it provides the perfect sleeping condition. The cruise director, Big Tex, is great for the Valor and the entertainment team are all wonderful too! You will have a fanastic time!

According in **********.com the Valor is on it's way to Grand Cayman. Has the dry dock already happened or it is coming up in the future?

I believe dry dock was last week and just went back into service this week.
