hoosier_done_it Posted February 1, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2011 Last November we sailed on the Sun in a Penthouse Suite (upsell) and loved the NCL perks for suites. As I look to our next cruise, I see itineraries on Royal and Princess that I like. My question to you more experienced cruisers is: Do either of those lines have similar perks for passengers in suites?
wittyfellow Posted February 1, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2011 I can't speak for a lot of other lines, as we've only been on a few. I can confirm though that the perks on RCL was very nice during our cruise out of Miami. The typical benefits were there along with concierge lounge access to make dinner/show reservations. The best part was our stop in Labadee, Haiti. We were in a special area of the beach that included a really nice buffet. We also had access to a cabana right on the water. What a great day spent away from the crowds. On Celebrity, we are usually in the sky suites, and that experience has been fantastic. You get several bottles of wine and the concierge will make the usual show/dinner reservations. You also get afternoon snacks in the room every day. Typical embarkation/debarkation benefits apply. On HAL, we have access to the neptune lounge, which is a great area to go and relax, get some snacks and afternoon tea, etc. We also got complimentary dry cleaning, pressing, and laundry. We're going on our first NCL trip in May, so I'm not sure what the benefits are... BUT, I'm certain my partner will be doing a comparative analysis. Good luck with your decision; have a great trip, --a

The perks for the Courtyard are wonderful with added cost, but that is not much for what one receives. Plus, if one does their research, OBC offsets it all in price. Thank you for setting things straight on the perks!!!!:D

HotRoot Posted February 2, 2011 #12 Share Posted February 2, 2011 How about a complete list for comparisons sake? PE I am going from memory so may not be correct. On Costa we had a butler, free meal in speciality restaurant, early boarding, priority tendering, canapes in the early evening. On Princess we had a butler, free internet, free laundry, early boarding, priority tendering, canapes, order room service from the dining room menu, dvd library. We had the cruise critic gathering in our suite and the butler served. On HAL we had free laundry, early boarding, priority tendering, access to the lounge with concierge, special room service menu, afternoon tea in our room, cocktail party with the officers. On RCCL we had early boarding, priority tendering, special room service menu. We did a B2B so had duty free alcohol delivered at the end of the first cruise and we had an entire bar for the second cruise. I am sure there were other benefits we did not use and/or I cannot remember. We just booked our first NCL suite. Our favorite perk was the free internet and free laundry. We do not book by perks offered. We book by itinerary and price.

Princess has a similar area called the Sanctuary, for adults only. You pay for it per day, per session, they limit the occupancy...so no chair hogs.. http://www.princess.com/learn/onboard/activities/daytime_activities/day_sanctuary/index.html

First, talk about nickel and diming and second, that doesn't sound comparable to the Villa.

HotRoot Posted February 3, 2011 #21 Share Posted February 3, 2011 We are booked on NCL Sun which does not have a Courtyard. We are used to using our balcony as our own private sun deck. That is the main reason we book a suite.
