Charlene123 Posted February 5, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2011 A newbie question for sure! Can I drink the water on the ship or do I have to buy bottled water? Thank you!
paul929207 Posted February 5, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2011 The water on the ship is excellent and purer than most bottled water. We never waste our money on bottled water, but bring along a few empty bottles and refill them as needed.
cb at sea Posted February 5, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 5, 2011 Of course you can drink the water! All of the food, ice, and drinks are made with the ship's water! However, it will never "run cold" from your tap...that's why they bring you ice twice a day! Plop some ice (made from ship's water) into your glass, and drink up! It's purer than any bottled water, and probably purer than your tap water at home!
chipmaster Posted February 5, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 5, 2011 Welcome to CC Distilled water from ship is pretty good, free and actually probably better than what many people buy and think is purer and more healthy than their tap. Rare John Bull Posted February 6, 2011 #5 Share Posted February 6, 2011 The water on the ship is excellent and purer than most bottled water. Not neccessarily. If the ship cannot keep up with demand for water, re-cycled water is used for flushing the toilets. So on a ship I never drink from the toilet bowl. JB :)

njdevil08 Posted February 6, 2011 #7 Share Posted February 6, 2011 Generally, the ships use desalinated sea water...the water is filtered and purified. The process they use makes it more "pure" than water from the average tap.

bbwex Posted February 6, 2011 #9 Share Posted February 6, 2011 That is a bit of an understatement. The water is either made in an evaporator which is like distilled water, or it is made using reverse osmosis -- usually the former -- and it is, therefore, absolutely pure save from some chlorine to keep the system safe. Toilets rarely use potable water. No pun intended, it would be a waste of pure water.
