FLACRUISER99 Posted February 15, 2011 #26 Share Posted February 15, 2011 Sad to see the fire. But, not being allowed off the ship in Nassau wouldn't much of a problem for anyone who has been there before. The crew not being able to party at Bamboo will be upset.Sorry, I have been to Nassau many times and I love it. I Hope everyone is OK in this great port of call!! tmt218 Posted February 15, 2011 #27 Share Posted February 15, 2011 This is so awful. I hope everyone is okay. We lost our home and everything in it 1 month ago today. My boyfriend luckily heard the smoke alarm and got out but was pretty badly burned. Fire is such a demon. I have always been so terrified of fire. Now I am 10 times as scared. No insurance on the house either.:( This has been a total nightmare. I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you and your family are doing ok. Thank goodness that no one was more seriously hurt. I hope your DBF is doing good. Going through something like this brings you closer to each other. I am sending happy vibes and prayers your way!!! Eng23 Posted February 16, 2011 #30 Share Posted February 16, 2011 This area is in the opposite direction from Senor Frogs. It's east of Senor Frogs right next to the port piers.

tmt218 Posted February 16, 2011 #32 Share Posted February 16, 2011 No they are letting passangers off the ship. It was only temporary. They let the passangers off yesterday after they got the fire under control.
Mad Capn Bob Posted February 17, 2011 #33 Share Posted February 17, 2011 Aye, I just saw the news myself on the Tribune website ( http://www.tribune242.com/ )...a terrible thing. For those who are leaving tonite / tomorrow, or have friends heading to Nassau.. Nassau's East Bay Street is on fire. From the Bacardi Store on the corner of Rawson Square, including Crew Pub down to Kelly's dock.. it's ablaze.. Passengers are not being allowed off their ships. wdcspurs Posted February 18, 2011 #34 Share Posted February 18, 2011 Can anyone update me on what buildings were lost in the fire? Pictures I saw made it look like it was really close to the cruise ship port. And it looked like the bacardi building was one.
pale lady Posted February 18, 2011 #35 Share Posted February 18, 2011 No they are letting passangers off the ship. It was only temporary. They let the passangers off yesterday after they got the fire under control. My friends and I were let off the Sensation on Wednesday. Saw the damage, it was really bad. They were still spraying water on the fire on Wednesday the 15th when we docked. got some pictures but don't know how to post them. Cab driver said the building was really ond from 1930's. Very sad. photoj Posted February 19, 2011 #36 Share Posted February 19, 2011 Here's our picture of the fire from the Dream. It was an insane fire to watch. They seemed unprepared to deal with a fire of this size.
Rare CruisinCrow Posted February 19, 2011 #37 Share Posted February 19, 2011 Oh wow, how terrifying. I'm glad it didn't spread more than it did!

WOW!!!!!!!!!! That was some fire...........I think I would be pretty nervous being on a cruise ship in port...........the way it was spreading,I'd worry it would hit the pier!
The4Cruisers Posted February 22, 2011 #40 Share Posted February 22, 2011 Wow, just last month, DW and I were in the Bacardi store and the little gift shop and bar right in the middle of the block that burned down. It's a shame that everything there is gone now. :(
