Opinions needed to food in Galveston

Recommended Posts

Come this May will be mine and my DH's very first visit to Galveston. We will only be there one day before our cruise, so I would like some opinions from those of you who have been there before. In your opinion, what would be the one (or two) places that you would say...."oh, you just gotta eat there!"? I guess while on the subject of Galveston, is there any thing there there we just don't want to miss during our very short visit? Thanks for any help here guys!:)

Most people would probably point you toward Gaido's Seafood Restaurant since this is your first visit.

If seafood is not your thing, then I would suggest Saltgrass steakhouse.

Both are on the seawall. You will get lot's of suggestions depending on peoples faves.

You'll be there on a Saturday so the trolley will be running from the Strand Historic District for a short tour through town to the seawall and back. Just taking part of the day and walking around the Strand Historic District with all the shops and restaurants is fun and a great way to pass the day. There is a harbor tour boat avilable for 10.00 ea. I think. You can get tickets outside of the Harbor House at their booth.

Lots of info can be found at http://www.galveston.com/default.asp

Have fun and enjoy your cruise!

You need to decide if you want to stay on

1. Gulf of Mexico Beach Area (many hotels)

2. Historic Old Town Strand – Terminal Port Area (Tremont and Harbor House)

3. Bayside Area (2) Moody Gardens Hotels

Tremont and Harbor House are 2-3 blocks to terminal.

Everything is close though!

All hotel/motels are just two or so miles from terminal anyway.
