I am new to the boards but love cruising, cruised on Carnival 7 times. This time we are going to try princess. We have heard a lot of good things about princess.I saw some pictures of her from 2005, it looked a little older style still nice but I was wondering if the have done a remodel on her and when, Thanks for your help

She had her last major refit in 2009 where they added the signature features of the newer ships... International Cafe, Piazza, Vines, etc...

It is supposed to go into drydock in January

There were a couple of amenities that weren't added during the major makeover in '09, among them, a gelato machine in the International Cafe. Since it's an optional (i.e. pay-for) item, Princess will ultimately profit from its installation.

I love the idea of keeping the current fleet as modern as possible. The Grand will receive the most dramatic transformation in Princess' history beginning in April, and the Sapphire will be refit next January. Frankly, they both need it.

I thought thedrydock that was scheduled was for early nov before the Thanksgiving holiday? We were on herover the Christmas holiday and she was in great shape. Have two more cruised booked on her.

This is correct, she is scheduled in November...

She was in very well condition but I'm not going to lie very minor things could be updated but all the important areas are in very good shape

Having sailed on her 4 times between 2006 to 2010 I have to agree. The furniture in some of the staterooms and some of the mattresses need to be replaced. One time I was in a room where the drawer kept falling off the track. Last trip the mattress sagged in the middle. I have to say that it did bring me and my wife closer together. ;) None of this really bothered us but I know that it may ruin the entire vacation for someone else.

I and my husband have cruised many many times, but never as far as Asia. We are cruising on the Diamond Princess on 17th March (just a few weeks' time) and are callling at some very interesting places. Can anyone tell me about changing money. Is it wise to take travellers cheques or American dollars? Anyone else done this particular cruise? Thanks
