Okay wow finally read the whole thread all 43 pages and seen it go from TIPs to complaints to questions to whatever. It has been very interesting but the questions started to repeat themselves about page 34. We have never cruised the DREAM our normal go to cruises (5 times) are on the Fascination. We finally book Dream for October 26th 2013. We have a Balcony in the AFT Portside #8442 that our PVP got for us (any comments about the room would be good). Hopefully this is a good room.

We are doing the Western Caribbean route. My thinking at Cozumel it is best to shop some and eat and drink, your thoughts?

. In Belize

take the ZIPLINE tour over the rain forest for about 3.5

hours. In Roatan...Go to the Little French Key. And in Costa Maya I am

thinking at this stop is to take a taxi to Mahahual to shop some and eat and drink and beach time as the last port.

Questions are

that have not been answered someplace here..

1-Where is the

Burrito Bar

2-Is the ships Captain that was there in 2011 still the Dream’s Captain?[/font

3-I do not want the SPA stuff but do like to work out while on ship, Is it free and how do you get to it? [/COLO

Thanks for this thread and the info.

If you like the water at all, I would recommend Ambergis cay off of Belize. Beautiful little island, beaches, snorkeling. The zip lining we did in Belize takes forever to get to on very bumpy dirt roads and once you are there you realize when you are signing your waiver that should there be any problem you are 1-2 hours bu bus away from any help! This is truly third world jungle! Roatan has zip line within ten minutes of ship and if you ever get to puerto Rico they have a beautiful zip line over the national raiinforest, only one of us national park system!

Just return from the conquest.. What are the major differences between the conquest and dream.. Besides the size?

Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

I haven't been on the Conquest. I was on the Liberty which is a Conquest class ship. I don't know what 2.0 upgrades the Conquest has. The Dream has the Red Frog Rum Bar and the Blue Iguana Tequila Bar, which the Conquest probably have too. A general deck by deck comparison, to give you an idea as to what features the Dream has that the Conquest lacks:

Deck 1: Most of the oceanview rooms are upgraded to deluxe oceanview (Cat. 6L, 6M, and 6N), which feature two bathrooms. Some of them (the 6N rooms) can fit 5 passengers.

Deck 2: Most of the oceanview rooms are upgraded to cove balconies (Cat. 7C), which feature a balcony built into the hull of the ship, close to the water line. Many of the remaining oceanviews are upgraded to deluxe oceanview (Cat. 6M).

Deck 3: Same basic layout, but the Dream doesn't have the little-used outdoor deck on Deck 3 (it was heavily upgraded and moved up to Deck 5). The venues on this deck might be a little bigger on the Dream.

Deck 4: Completely redesigned. On the Dream, you can walk the entire length of the deck on the Dream, since there is a hallway around the forward dining room. The former cigar lounge and internet café are gone (instead of an internet café, the Dream has Fun Hubs scattered around the ship). Most of the teenage venues are moved to this deck.

Deck 5: Completely redesigned. On the Dream, there is an outdoor deck, the lanai, cantilevered around the ship. It includes a barbecue on sea days, several hot tubs, and is sort of an outdoor extension of the indoor venues on this deck. A new indoor space, the Ocean Plaza, opens onto the lanai, and often has activities or music. The wine bar is gone. The Dream has a large art gallery on this deck. On the Magic and Breeze, that was replaced with the Red Frog Pub (the art gallery was moved down to Deck 4 on those ships). On the Dream, the teenage venues are moved down to Deck 4, so Deck 5 is now mostly for adults at night. The Dream still has the jazz club where the Conquest had it; it's mostly used for karaoke. On the Magic and Breeze, that room is removed, and the steakhouse is moved to that location.

Decks 6, 7, and 8: No major differences

Deck 9 Dream: An extra deck of staterooms, with mostly inside and balcony staterooms; nothing that can't be found on other ships

Deck 9 Conquest vs Deck 10 Dream: The lido deck is somewhat redesigned, but offers mostly similar features.

Deck 10 Conquest vs Deck 11 Dream: The forward staterooms on Deck 11 of the Dream are spa staterooms (Cat. 4S, 6S, 8P, and SS). The Dream lacks the 3rd pool (in its place is Water Works, on Deck 12). The fish and chips area is replaced by a pasta bar (lunch only on the Dream; on the Magic and Breeze, at night, it becomes an extra charge Italian restaurant).

Deck 11 Conquest vs Deck 12 Dream, and higher decks: In my opinion, the biggest upgrade is that the Dream has a water park, called Water Works! The Conquest has only one slide. The Dream has a larger spa, which includes both Decks 12 and 14, as well as spa staterooms on Deck 12 forward (Cat. 4S and 8S). The Magic and Breeze have Sports Square and a ropes course, which the Dream does not have. The Dream, however, has extra space and a larger mini-golf course than any other ship (I think it's the only ship with 18 holes). The Dream also has a double deck serenity area on Decks 14 and 15. The Magic and Breeze have a single deck serenity area on Deck 15 only. The Conquest probably has serenity by now, probably on Deck 14, and probably not as big as the one on the Dream or even Magic / Breeze (could be wrong on that one).

Also note that Deck 12 on the Dream is a full deck, but Deck 11 on the Conquest is only two smaller areas. This adds more seating, plus Water Works. The highest deck on the Conquest is Deck 14, and on the Dream it is Deck 15.

Can anyone give me feedback regarding the serenity deck on the Dream? Every other Carnival ship I have been on everyone "saves" their lounge with a towel and then leaves - and that is a policy of Carnival- no saving seats! It's annoying for those of us that only put our towel on the chair if we are present! Do they adhere to the policy any better on this ship?

Also, at the other pool and jacuzzis people take their little children into both jacuzzi!

Jacuzzis are not a place for a child (under age 10 at least). in fact, it's not healthy.

Any feedback on how this is handled on the Dream?

Thanks!

Right now, the only port staterooms available are under the galley and the thought of the noise makes me very leary to move. I'll wait it out for a while to see if a port cabin not under the galley becomes available. Is it port side toward the pier at all stops or just Cozumel?

We were port side(forward) on the Dream in August and we always docked on that side, so we had a great view. Especially in Honduras!

I'd take some time and research the potential cabin for more info. Search via Google and Cruise Critic. I've found lots of handy tips and info that way. Good luck!

I just returned from the Dream and I noticed a few towels saving lounges around the pools, but almost nothing in the Serenity area. We could always find 2 lounges together in the sun or shade. Whirlpools were often busy in the Serenity area, but as stated before, on Deck 11, they were usually empty and were hotter.

Thank you, everyone, for your hint, tips, experiences, suggestions, pictures, and posts. We sail in just 56 days and I just finished reading all 50 pages. WOW! Just heightens my excitement.

I have found, however, that every single cruise/roll call has those who cheer and those who jeer.

We've also found that every single cruise is exactly what WE make of it...and we are choosing to make this one DREAM of a vacation!:D

Two questions:

No sports bar?

Casino bar, is the smoke from the casino bad?

We loved the sports bar on the Conquest, and the closest thing I can find to it is the Casino Bar. I like a bar that you can hold a conversation in (I have some hearing damage from REALLY loud music as a teenager, and anything over moderate level music makes having a conversation impossible), but is still busy. I also liked the Alchemy bar, and was wondering if one of the lounges can make a decent sidecar or manhattan.

Just got off the Dream on the 14th, it is one big ship, we kept track of our walking and was doing at least 4 miles a day, sometimes more. This ship has more places to eat than any other ship I have been on. Loved the Deli and pasta bar. Never watched anything on the big screen and don't even know what was shown. We did FTTF and loved it. First ones in the aft pool and had it to ourselves for over a hour. Went on the slides, only a few other people using it and got to act like a kid. I loved being one of the first ones on board. We went right to our room, it was not cleaned yet but was told to leave our stuff and he would clean it at that time, our luggage was already there. We had to go to customer service a couple of times, loved going first in the FTTF line, especially when it was time to close my account, the other line was really long then. We did not experience any long lines. Some lines yes, but nothing more than other ships. The food and service was great.

Thanks for the info, lovecarnivalcruises! Can you tell me if the Oceanside Grill (I think that's the name?) is on the Dream? This is the outdoor grill that is on the side of the ship outdoors and they serve BBQ and some really great sliders. We enjoyed this on the Magic last year. Please say yes!!

  • 2 weeks later...

Which two nights are elegant night on 7 day western itinerary? I was thinking night 2 and 5? I'm hoping its not on our Belize excursion day as we are doing a big excursion and will be too exhausted to get all fancied up :)

BTW, we sail out on the 12th and are very excited!
