Any Way to Find Out if Our Cruise is Sold Out?

Just what I was going to say!

 

But you can also go to the webpage and log on the cruise you are interested in. If you go to "fares" they indicate what levels are wait listed and the like.

 

Or you can ask your TA to find out for you.

 

Maybe the simplest way is to call Oceania yourself?

We were wondering if there is any way to find out if a particular cruise is sold out?

 

"Sold Out" is sort of a fluid thing...

Over the course of time, bookings get made and bookings drop off...People cancel for various reasons...So, a cruise that is "sold out" one day, may have several available cabins the next...

 

Most cruises are sold out...or nearly sold out...by the time they sail...If a cruise has cabins left very close to sailing date, any cruise line will do a number of things to try to fill them...No cruise line wants to sail with empty cabins...The fuel costs are still there, the crew still onboard...Filling a cabin means revenue--drinks, casino, gift shops, shore excursions, etc.

 

So, always expect your cruise will be sold out...

 

Now, if you are just wondering, from time to time what inventory is available, the first good source is the Oceania website...looking up any particular cruise, go to "Fares" on the top menu and every category will say either "Sold Out", "Wait List" or "Available"...

Sold out means they are booked and they don't expect any reservation to drop out...or if they do, they already have a long enough wait list...Wait list means they are booked but will put you in line in case one drops away and available means just that...

 

If you want to find out about specific cabins, you can try a dummy reservation...but don't go all the way to booking it...

If the cruise is within a few weeks of sailing, with availability, will Oceania offer large discounts, maybe not posted?

 

They don't do price discounts, but you might get something like an additional onboard credit or free gratuities thrown in.

Oceania, like all businesses, does discount prices, when necessary.

 

In fact, for the upcoming Alaska season, as soon as Oceania saw that their price was more than the market would bear—fairly early on, as a matter of fact—they got ahead of the competition and not only reduced their fares but also added onboard credit.

 

The professional manner in which they did it, by contacting us directly without our having to call them, impressed me greatly, and I then mentioned it on the Crystal board. Crystal ultimately discounted a number of sailings, but had they priced them better to start with, or had they reduced them early on as Oceania did, their customers would have felt better about it.

 

You might not call that a discount, but the original fare was reduced and OBC was added.

Thanks everyone for the information. We are already booked, but possibly looking to see alternate dates if necessary.

 

I spoke to Oceania Miami office last week and they still had space on all rooms except the cheapest inside cabins. However with the discounts they are now offering I would imagine most cruises will run to fairly full capacity?
