aobrien16 Posted March 13, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 13, 2011 Just got off the ship this morning, I did a 6 nighter. Getting on and off the ship was pretty easy. Remember the color of your parking ticket or just bring it with you so you can reference it when you get off the ship. In Nassau we did The Blue Lagoon, it was a nice ride by boat to a pretty quiet Lagoon, you can do dolphin excursions or if you dont want to pay that muich just watch others. Check out their website, they have different activities. Atlantis is always a good choice as well. In Freeport we had a Power Catamaran snorkling excursion planned but due to windy conditions it was cancelled :(..my sister in law did this and said it was nice. We took a cab to Port Lucya and walked along the beach and shopped ( liked the shopping better in Freeport than Nassau). If they have Ticket to Ride show (Beatles tribute) be sure to go to this. Be sure to try the sandwiches in the back of Lido...the Rubens and Pastrami sandwiches are yummy!! Pack a jacket or sweatshirt..just in case (we had a cold day on our last day at sea..it was beautiful and sunny but very windy and chilly) Try the Chocolate Molten cake...yummo (its available every night) Bring your own sodas and water on your carry on each person can bring a 12 pack (sodas on the ship are very expensive) The beds are comfy I am sure there is tons of other stuff, I will post as I remember. Overall we had a great time (wish I had eaten at the Sushi Bar one night but never got around to it). I was sad to get off the ship this am :( Enjoy every minute of the cruise, sit back relax and enjoy the ride!!

Rare Essiesmom Posted March 13, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 13, 2011 Just remember that unless you are in a suite, you will need to bring a hairdryer. EM
Cruise Envy Posted March 13, 2011 #5 Share Posted March 13, 2011 Have a great trip! We sailed at Thanksgiving, and are going again in August. It's a small terminal, be patient; we thought it went pretty fast. Don't forget to try the 24/7 soft serve ice cream! We did Blue Lagoon in Nassau, and we would do it again. I agree, I enjoyed the shopping in Freeport. Do post a review when you get back!
Bradpinksc Posted March 13, 2011 #6 Share Posted March 13, 2011 We are going on the Fantsay in May to Bermuda. I have been reading everything on CC. The only problem we have is trying to figure out what to do Bermuda since we are only there one night. We have a few excurisons we want to do. Being there on Sunday is a problem from what I read. JStarbrite Posted March 13, 2011 #7 Share Posted March 13, 2011 We will be joining you! This will be my 3rd time on the Fantasy. 1. Get to the ship early (10am) drop off your your carry on, then head to the Lido deck for a DOD and some lunch. Then explore the ship. By then your stateroom will be ready, and your luggage might even be there. Unpack and relax a bit before the muster drill. After muster, grab another cocktail and head up on deck for sail away. Veranda forward is my favorite for this. 2. Don't miss any MDR meals, or big shows. Check out the piano bar and comedy show on the first day. You can then decide if you want to go back later in the cruise. 3. Go down the water slide at least once 4. Lucya is a great area to spend the day and do your own thing in Freeport. Free beaches, shopping, dining and casino. 5. There is a lot to do right off the ship in Nassau, but most everything closes at 4:30. Atlantis is really cool. 6. The pizza is excellent and makes a good late night snack. 7. The locker room in the spa is free, with steam and dry saunas, a co-ed hot tub, and spacious 5 head showers. They used to have complimentary toiletries such as colones, deodorant, and razors. A good way to save time if you are sharing a bathroom. 8. You don't have to leave the ship when they call your area, but you can't leave before. 9. Wait until the last day to do your on board shopping. They will have sales and closeouts. 10. Slipping your bartender, steward, or waiter just a few extra bucks here and there goes a long way. If you see a dunk guy squeeling like a little girl going down the slide, or singing horribly at the piano bar, that will be me :) Have a great time! babybaby Posted March 14, 2011 #9 Share Posted March 14, 2011 Just got off last Sat. We really enjoyed the late breakfast by the pool till 12:00. The promenade was great except the last day it was cold outside so everyone was indoors. It was crowded, and very smoky. You can order Mac and cheese in the MDR. I usually take diet decaf coke and water onboard, but did not this time and it worked out fine. I did get a soda card because they had diet sprite and diet decaf coke. If you buy the card when you are in international waters you save a few bucks because you pay no tax. ($36) There is a big bottle of water in your stateroom, and it is not that much per day. JStarbrite Posted March 16, 2011 #12 Share Posted March 16, 2011 What time is muster drill? Usually just before sail away. By law it must be done before 1/2 hour after sail away.
schrecker96 Posted March 16, 2011 #13 Share Posted March 16, 2011 Leaving on the 23rd as well. Can't wait and I hope we have decent weather! I was in Charleston in Nov and went by the port around 10:30, they really did not seem to be ready to accept new passangers until 10:45 or 11:00. If you are driving to the port and never been to Charleston take a few extra min and drive all the way down one of the main roads (I think Meeting or King street) to the waterfront make a left and come back up along East Bay street (just follow the road) back to the port. It gives you a nice 10 cent tour of the city! My 4 year old has been practcing the cha cha slide for this trip!
Qchell Posted March 16, 2011 #14 Share Posted March 16, 2011 The cruise leaving on the 23rd will be mine and my brand new husband's first cruise! (Getting married Saturday!!) So looking forward to it and really appreciate all the advice that I have been finding on the boards.
scchasgal Posted March 16, 2011 #15 Share Posted March 16, 2011 Usually just before sail away. By law it must be done before 1/2 hour after sail away. Actually it is just standard that the cruiseline do it around 1/2 an hour before sailing. The law is within 24 hours of departure.

twentyknots Posted March 17, 2011 #20 Share Posted March 17, 2011 Just got off last Sat. We really enjoyed the late breakfast by the pool till 12:00. The promenade was great except the last day it was cold outside so everyone was indoors. It was crowded, and very smoky. Don't mean to hijack the OP, but the comment above about smoking caught my attention. We are considering cruising on the Fantasy May 4 but do not want to be around a lot of smoke. The Casino is my favorite place on any ship and we recently were on the Celebrity Solstice which does not allow smoking in the Casino, or any public areas for that matter. For those of you who have cruised on the Fantasy recently, is it really smokey?

The Casino is my favorite place on any ship and we recently were on the Celebrity Solstice which does not allow smoking in the Casino, or any public areas for that matter. For those of you who have cruised on the Fantasy recently, is it really smokey? Unfortunately, yes, it's very smoky, especially in and near the casino. On the Promenade Deck you notice it the closer you get to the casino. Wish Carnival would consider making public areas "smoke free." As a former smoker, I would understand that I could smoke outside or only in certain "designated" lounges. That being said, I would cruise on the Fantasy again with no problem. Had a great time! :D

This is a bar open to the hallway with many folks walking by and commenting about the smoke.
