Before I decide how much Cash to bring can anyone tell me if guest services will Cash a personal check? Is there a limit?

I thought I read that you could get a cash advance from the casino, is this true?

Thanks

Just off the Conquest. No they would not cash a personal check at the guest services or could we get a cash advance, they just referred us to use the ATM for a $3.00 charge. The casino was closed on the day we tried to do it. We did end up using the ATM

Three bucks charge to use the ATM? Yikes!

Must bear that in mind and simply hit it up one time for a big load

rather than several smaller hits!

What about Traveler's Checks? Will guest services cash them?

Thanks

J.

from Carnival FAQ page:

Can Traveler's Checks be cashed on board?

Traveler's Checks can be cashed on board at the Guest Services Desk. Since Traveler's Checks are considered as cash, there is no fee for this check cashing service, but there is a $1,000 per day limit, to the dollar amount cashed.

Canadian Traveler's Checks can be cashed on board at the Guest Services Desk at the current exchange rate.

We do not accept bank issued cashier's checks or money orders on board.

From Carnival's FAQ's:

Traveler's Checks can be cashed on board at the Guest Services Desk. Since Traveler's Checks are considered as cash, there is no fee for this check cashing service, but there is a $1,000 per day limit, to the dollar amount cashed.

Canadian Traveler's Checks can be cashed on board at the Guest Services Desk at the current exchange rate.

And for those wondering about personal checks:

Can I cash checks on board?

Guests may use their personal checks on board to acquire a cash advance. Global Cash Access (GCA) provides this service by debiting the guest's checking account, using the account number on the check. Limits are determined by the monies currently available in the guest's checking account that the check is drawn on. Just like a debit card transaction, the money is immediately debited from the guest's account.

For this service, GCA charges 5.5% of the value of the cash advance requested or a flat fee of $5.50 if the amount requested is $100 or less. As part of this transaction, a new GCA check is generated for the transaction amount and the guest is requested to endorse it over to CCL in order to receive the cash. The guest's personal check is returned to them after the bank account number is obtained from the bottom of the check.

Both the Guest Services Desk and the Casino offer this service.

3 bucks was very cheap if that was the actual charge. Off the Pride in February and it was 6.50 plus bank charges.

you can get money off your sign and sail card at a slot machine when the casino is opened---for free

Rather than travel with a large amount of cash I just make sure that I have a credit card to secure my account with and a large amount of cash in my bank account to pay it off with when I get home.

Then I download credits to a slot machine (no charge) and cash out the amount I want for carrying around cash.
