Eating at Great Outdoors is nice if you want to eat the buffet, just remember when in port the flying rats will try to steal unprotected food. Make sure to try and eat in the main dining rooms, I really enjoyed eating in them. If you like real ice tea you can make your own by getting hot water from the coffee area in the buffet and putting some in a coffee cup with a tea bag. Then just pour it over some ice in a glass. Enjoy your cruise, my first cruise was on th Sun a little while ago.

The Sun is lovely ship and you will enjoy your cruise very much! As someone mentioned the Great Outdoors is good for a quick bite to eat. In the afternoon they had warm chocolate chip cookies there. Warm fruit crepes in the Garden Cafe. Get one then go right next door to the ice cream shop for a scoop of vanilla on top, Yummy! Observation lounge in the front of the ship is nice in the evening. We thought the shows were very good and especially like Mod the musical and the crew show on the last night. Both MDR's were very good and we also had a great meal at East Meets West steakhouse. Lunches in Moderno, made to order pasta, pizza and sometimes stirfrys. We found embarking and disembarking from Port Canaveral very easy. We got there at around 11am and were on the ship and waiting for the MDR to open at 11:50am. Getting off (we did self embarkation) was easy and we would have been off around 7:45 if we weren't held up by non-US passengers who failed to meet with customs when they were supposed to (paged multiple times).

A wonderful ship with a great crew. Enjoy.

The Indian lunch buffet is a don't miss. You have to sign up for it & it costs $15 or $20 pp (can't remember which) but is well worth it & make sure to go hungry. We're not crazy about Indian food but decided to try it anyway. There is a lot to choose from! We wish this would go fleet wide but as far as we can see, its only offered on the Sun.

We saw them trying to get signups all week......pigeonholed them with bingo, art, and scratchcards.

We like to board early but our the Radisson (park & cruise hotel shuttle) say they can't drop anyone off until after 11:30am per the port. And since I forgot to book our shuttle spot early they have us on the 12pm shuttle. We might just take a cab and get there at 11:00am. Whas the buffet open? We normally skip breakfast and just eat lunch once we get on the ship.

Thanks,

That sounds like what happened on my cruise, they kept paging a couple of folks from Canada I believe. We were on the Jan 25 cruise to Nassau, Freeport and Great Stirrup Cay.

Yes the buffet was open and the 1 MDR that is open on embarkation day opened at noon. We had dropped off a rental car in Cocoa Beach so they brought us over in their shuttle right away and there were lots of folks who got there before us.

It was a group of Italian passengers that held us up. At first they kept announcing that all non-US passengers needed to meet in the Star Dust lounge then progressed to actual names of those who were missing. After about 6 different pages over about 45 minutes we were finally able to leave the ship.

every night for an hour 2 for 1 martinis in the observation lounge. some night there is entertainment but not all. still a great deal and a great view.

Also would say don't miss the wings in the sports bar, tasty and meaty! Don't miss the folk evenings in las ramblas, (can't remember her name) but even if you just stop in when you are in betweeen other nightly activities. She also does a celtic night.

philly cheesesteak in the MDR for lunch is delicious as well as the corn chowder!

Oh yeah and don't miss the quest on the last night & the liars club earlier in the week in the showroom.

miss the casino, it took all my money:D

Have fun

Sharon

we did the Sun on a Baltics cruise last year and the singers name is Kim Dolittle-we ended up in Las Ramblas each night to listen to her and meet up with newfound friends from cruise critic-fun times

also recommend great outdoors for breakfast, lunch at the "healthy option "free restaurant[cant remember name] but which serves pizza and pasta each lunchtime-no queues!

sports bar-good for atmosphere and blue lagoon type food

enjoy

I think the healthy option "free restaurant has been rebranded (during the refit)as something else now. Thats where we used to take our brekkie from the buffet as there were not enough tables or chairs in the buffet.

Yes, in the evenings it is now a specialty restaurant, Moderno Churrascaria (Brazilian Steakhouse style) $20. pp. During breakfast and lunch it is still open to everyone for extra buffet seating and they have made to order omelets in the AM and pizza and pasta for lunch.

We had issues with non-US passengers too, but I think part of the issue resides with NCL. You often cannot hear the overhead announcement in your cabin. NCL knows which cabins these people are in so maybe a simple phone call or knock on the door to remind them they need to report would result in faster results.

I enjoyed the main dining rooms for breakfast & lunch, I'm not big on buffets. LOVED the sports bar, we watched football and ate a couple nights in there. Absolutely loved the East Meets West Steakhouse! The mystery dinner is fun.

Other than eating I loved walking the track and lounging on the balcony or poolside. The comedians were very funny and the staff are friendly. The daily activities were fun as well.

I participated in the blackjack tournament and did well although I had never played bj in a casino before!

I can't wait to go on the Sun again and see what "enhancements" have been made. Hopefully in the fall!!
