tvtd4u Posted March 19, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 19, 2011 Our flight gets into NY at 6am...we can't put our luggage on ship till 11:30-12. What are some ideas for my DW and I to do? (active 50ish) Baggage storage? I've heard of Schwartz....How does this work? Quick tours? Cool Breakfast? Taxi to Schwartz?....then tour/eat?...the back to Schwartz, then taxi to Manhattan cruise dock We are coming in at Kennedy and cruising on NCL Gem at 12th Ave and 52nd St. Also the reverse??? in Port at 8am...plane leaves at 4pm. Thanks so much my fellow CruiseCritic brothers and sisters
njhorseman Posted March 19, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 19, 2011 While you can't board the ship until 11:30 or noon, you should be able to check your luggage with the porters as early as 8am. They are on site to handle the disembarking passengers' luggage at that time. In any case, one branch of Schwartz travel doesn't open until 8am, and the other until 9, so I would suggest skipping them and taking a taxi directly to the pier...you probably won't get there before 8am by the time you claim your luggage at the airport and get a taxi, and you should be able to check your bags at the pier. (Just keep your carry ons with your tickets, medications and valuables!) After leaving your luggage at the pier you can then go where you want in Manhattan, carry ons in hand (which might somewhat restrict where you can go). On your return, it does make sense to take a taxi to Schwartz, check your bags and spend a couple of hours in the city before heading back to Schwartz and then JFK. skrufy Posted March 21, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 21, 2011 A New York City guide book would be a great help to you. You can find many things to see in all parts of the city.
