HMC and Cabana rental assignment

We are planning on renting a cabana on HMC through Carnival. I kind of recall hearing a few years back that when you board the ship for embarkation you have to dash to the excursion deck to get dibs on the cabana you want..... anyone know if that is still true? Or should we call Carnival now to get an assignment? Thanks!

You can reserve a cabana on line, like any other shore excursion. It appears you have to talk to them about a particular cabana assignment once you are on board. This is discussed in the threads below about HMC.
