Kindle for Internet use

I will be borrowing a Kindle that is 3G and Wi-Fi capable for my cruise to Bermuda. Will I be able to use the Wi-Fi if I can find a spot in Bermuda that has free Wi-Fi? Or if I choose to buy an internet package on the ship.

Since I don't have a Kindle I am not sure how it works. Any help would be appreciated. Sue

My Kindle2 works for free in every port but I've never successfully connected to the ship's cellular network (Cunard cruises).

 

The secret to using the Kindle's browser is to rely on the "mobile" versions of web pages, such as m.yahoo.com, m.facebook.com, mobile.nytimes.com, etc. To surf CruiseCritic on the Kindle, turn off display of images (AFAIK there isn't a "mobile" version of CC).

I used mine for e-mail and web surfing in Florida and Caribbean ports in January. It's slow, but it works. I didn't try to use it while at sea. I've also used it while on a train in Italy - worked like a charm.

I used mine while on the Carnival Victory a few weeks ago. Was fine in port and was able to use it on the ship until we were about 5 minutes away from port. After that neither wifi nor 3G would work.

Just one thought it is very slow on a ship
