Murphey Posted April 4, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 4, 2011 We would normally just take the train, however, we will be a party of 6 with luggage and I'm wondering if there is a car service for all of us that would be better/more convenient. Thank you.
Cruise NH Posted April 4, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2011 We used smithforairports last year and thought they were great and had good prices. Oh, by the way, they're not just for airports...we used them for a trip between Southampton and Dover. Great service, on time, no problems and we will use them again. Rare Hlitner Posted April 4, 2011 #4 Share Posted April 4, 2011 We needed a large van transport from Tilbury (near London) to Southampton last year and one of our party made excellent arrangements with Britishairportcars.co.uk . We all were really pleased with the service. Our driver showed-up on time, took care of loading all of our luggage (we had a lot) and gave us a nice ride the few hours to Southampton. Thank you. I would get in touch with a Southampton based service, such as west quay; as they will likely be 20-30% cheaper than a London based service. (and I beat our Romsey lad to it...) That being said, there are some ridiculous fares available on the train from http://www.megatrain.com , who have some carriages on some trains from Waterloo; and/or the slower train from Victoria (Southern Rail), which has had some really good 4 for the price of 2 http://www.southernrailway.com/tickets-and-fares/railcards-and-discounts/groupsave/ type deals. Rare John Bull Posted April 4, 2011 #7 Share Posted April 4, 2011 (and I beat our Romsey lad to it...) :p ;) Smiths & West Quay receive good reviews on this site. We use http://www.advancedairportcars.co.uk/ (note their quoted prices cover both pre & post-cruise journeys, e-mail them for a one-way price). All three are local. London or airport-based companies prices range anywhere between competetive & rip-off. Whilst airport specialists tend to know the score, do make a point of stressing the amount of luggage you'll have - there are limos which will comfortably carry 6, but only if you leave your luggage behind. John Bull :)
