18-year-old on Eclipse?

We'll be on Eclipse in November, with our 10-yo son and 18-yo daughter. I know my son will be fine with the Fun Factory activities, but not sure how easy it will be for the18yo. She'll have just turned 18, and looks 14. The teen club says for up to 17 - will she not be able to participate? Anyone have experience with this? How did your 18-year-old fare?

Thanks!

Andrea

Will your 18 yr old still be in high school or graduated? I noticed they did have a gathering in the VIP area of Quasar (the disco area) for 18-21 yr olds. If she is still in high school I am sure she will be allowed in the 15-17 group. I found the kids club counselors very willing and eager to meet each child's needs. Encourage her to check things out on the 1st day - everyone is looking for "friend" in the beginning.

Is it true that 18 year olds who are in high school can participate in the organized teen activities? Because I've always read on the CC boards that on Princess you can't participate if you're an 18 year old, even if still in high school. Curious how this works on Celebrity. My DD is 14 now and in 8th grade, so she will turn 18 at the beginning of her senior year in high school.

That's what I was thinking. We asked to move our son to the higher age group when he was 8 years old and all the other kids were closer to the 5-yo mark, and they said no. Probably even more adamant about not letting the 18-yo's mix with the younger ones. It's too bad, because her maturity level matches more with 16-17's than "adults". But I understand that X can't try to make judgements on maturity - they have to set a guideline and follow it.

Thanks for your responses!

If you are cruising in November, there aren't going to be many kids of any age. Even during Thanksgiving week, there won't be a whole lot. It won't be like a summer or Christmas cruise. Or a cruise on some of the other lines. The kid's club, if not very busy might allow your daughter to hang around. Especially if she's not into casino or more adult type of activities. If she's not happy just hanging with you, suggest she attend any get togethers for the older teens and hang at the pool and she might meet some young adults with like interests. But...there really aren't going to be a plethora of activities and choices for her age group. 18's a tough age for the ships to plan for. The maturity level indeed varies a ton.
