Does anyone know why RCCL quit sailing there?

I want to go there but I am leary of sailing with Princess.

I don't know why you are leery of sailing with Princess. I've sailed with them a few times and the experience was excellent. I don't know the exact reason that RCCL quit sailing in the Sout Pacific but I would think that part of it is demographics as RCCL is one of the lower priced cruise lines. That being said, trips to the South Pacific are very expensive and would probably not appeal to the majority of RCCL cruisers.

Unfortunately it looks like the only reasonably priced cruise lines that are doing the Australia New Zealand cruise both this year and into early 2006 are Princess and HAL. Now I'm saying unfortunate just because it limits the choices not because I dislike either line, 7 HAL cruise and 2 Princess cruises. But when fewer lines are on an itinerary the lines left can raise prices and the amounts of cabins available is limited.

 

My own opinion on the problem with this cruise is the extremely expensive and long flights to get to Australia from the US and I have no way to correct that problem.

 

I would agree with the above poster and look at either Princess or HAL. Both are good cruise lines with a quality product.

Having just been there with Princess, and liking the RCCL/Celebrity type cruises also, I would not hesitate to sail there with Princess again.
