NOn smoking ship?

Recommended Posts

I just read on John Heralds blog that Carnival had a non smoking ship the Paradise. Why did it stop? I smoke cigars and I wish there was a non smoking ship so people would not give me dirty looks when I smoke a cigar. Why didnt it work?

For myself I stopped booking it because the itenerary never changed. It was nice but ,how many times do you want to make the same trip?

non smokers to fill the ship. Quick question why do you think you could smaoke a cigar on a non smoking ship?

Mike

I think he means that he wishes that there was a non smoking ship for the non smokers to sail on so that they won't be around on the regular ship to give him the evil eye.

I think the key is that more people smoke when they're gambling or drinking. Lots of people only smoke when drinking, which is why people think smokers spend more money in the bars or casino.

I agree Parkay... I don't smoke... and really hate being surrounded by smoke.. it makes it hard to breath and makes you smell nasty...

but... I do drink... and I love to gamble. Here in my town.. they finally outlawed smoking in all public buildings.. people swore that it would kill the bingo nights... it didn't....if you like to gamble.. you will gamble.. rather you can smoke or not.

It was indeed ahead of its time.

We cruised on it in 2004.

The simple answer is "groups". Groups are the lifeblood of any cruise ship and even the smallest family groups can have one smoker...which stops the entire group from sailing on that ship.

Had Carnival had the vision of Oceania (where smoking is allowed but only in 2 small spots) AND if Carnival had made some other changes....it could possibly be "almost smoke free today".

As with anything in business, it is rarely one reason. There were several other things that Carnival did "wrong" if they really wanted this to work....but rumor has it that "uncle Bob" (a smoker himself) really did not want it to work.
