Ton's Mom Posted April 26, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2011 Hi, Can anyone suggest a good inexpensive car service from Rome FCO airport to Civitavecchia cruise port? Thanks. Julie
CruiserBruce Posted April 26, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 26, 2011 There are tons of recommendations on the Italy boards, here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=595 However, due to the distances, generally higher costs and other things, you will need to define "inexpensive". Toto2Kansas Posted April 27, 2011 #3 Share Posted April 27, 2011 Hi' date=' Can anyone suggest a good inexpensive car service from Rome FCO airport to Civitavecchia cruise port? Thanks. Julie[/quote'] Although many of us have used the car services in Rome from the airport to Civitavecchia, inexpensive is not a word that can not be listed for any of them. The best way to get a decent rate on a private transfer is to find others to share the cost and join your transfer. Otherwise, it is often less expensive (depending on how many in your group) to take the ships transfers. Enjoy!
pris993 Posted April 27, 2011 #4 Share Posted April 27, 2011 The going rate for a pre arranged car service is $130 ($200 US) euros plus tip, one way. I checked on this earlier this week. We have had success flying into Rome and picking up a taxi, do believe we did better than the going rate but it was a few years back. We have also booked a round trip service thru a local travel agent which costs us $300 each way plus tip. So the comment made above, that non are cheap is true. maryann ns Posted April 27, 2011 #5 Share Posted April 27, 2011 If you go to the roll call for your cruise you may be able to join with others for a better price. If you travel reasonably lightly you can also take the train and save lots. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1381141 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1393661 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1383195
mtnmusic Posted April 27, 2011 #6 Share Posted April 27, 2011 We've always used regionalle train service which gets you to and from faster, cheaper and includes free public transport on bus and subways while in Rome.
