I read that the Star is going into dry dock April 2012, but when looking at her schedule I can't find a break for dry dock time. Does anyone have information on her dry dock dates. I am scheduled to to be on her April28/12 out of San Francisco to Hawaii.

Hi Glen & Gloria - the Star is scheduled for dry dock in October or November of this year. So no worries about our April cruise. I think it's getting the IC and Vines. Not sure about Skywalkers or the window suites.

According to the Princess website that has the Deck Plans, it already has the International Cafe and Vines. Sure hope so; we love the IC.

Great! I haven't been looking at deck plans lately, so hopefully it already has that. In that case, what would they be doing during such a long dry dock?

Funny you mentioned it I was looking today and I found it is scheduled for dry dock April 1 - 22 in Freeport. Well this has to be incorrect since it has a round trip out of San Francisco April 3 for 10 days:D

Are they removing skywalker's and doing everything they did on the Grand? I hope it is November of 2011.

Yes Star does have IC and Vines. In April 2011 we spent many evenings at Vines with a wonderful Sommellier Alijandro (sp).

I read somewhere on these boards that the Star Princess is going into drydock November 14-December 8, 2011. Total of 25 days..so must be doing something major. Can someone confirm?

I just was recommended to go to another site that I can't post here. They do show it in a dry dock from 11/14 to 12/7 Looks like it's getting a lot done.

yup she does have ic and vines, was done quite a few years ago as we sailed on her just after she had this retrofit and it was lovely, but she didn't get her casino/crown grill/tour desk moved.

we are looking forward to our 30 days on her next February in South America.

The 11/14 to 12/7 dates are the current schedule for the drydock. Princess even canceled a cruise to provided for a longer drydock. There were problems during her last drydock and only changes on Plaza deck including the IC and Vines were completed. No work was done on Fiesta and Promenade decks including a new Casino, a Crown Grill and Window Suites. The Star was to be the first of the older Grand class ships to be upgraded and the Fiesta and Promenade decks were supposed to look like the Golden and the Caribbean. She is not supposed to have a "Skywalkersectomy". Will some of the new features added to the Grand now be added to the Star? Will the same modifications be made to the Horizon Court? Will the new Vines and Vines Shop be revised again to include Alfredo's. Will a Leaves Tea Library be added? Hopefully someone who has information will post.

Just got of the phone with Princess, dry dock is scheduled for November 14-2011, must be happening in Italy after her stop in Venice. They could not tell me what will be done, I will find out next April. Thanks for all your replies, Gloria:)

We were on the Star last week and had causse to speak tho the Cabin Stewards Supervisor about the gross state of the balcony steelwork, which was covered in rust and corroded through,he said the ship was refitting in September . I took photos of the corroded areas which I will send to the UK head office , not that that will cause any major response from Princess. As Elite members of the Captains Circle we were not even offered an alternative cabin, although the ship was sailing under strength. Before anyone comment "ANOTHER COMPLAINING BRIT" that is not the case,if Princess wants to pervade their superiority over other lines they should carry out routine maintenance more professionally

Confirmed! Until a recent change, our son was scheduled to be on the Star from Labor Day until the ship goes into dry dock on November 14.

We had a B2B2B scheduled on the Star. Our first B2 was cancelled :( as the ship would be in drydock. Was upset, but getting over it, it was going from Rome to Venice, doing some of the Greek Islands we had never been to before.

Hate to be on a ship right after drydock, but we are still boarding on 8 Dec 2011....so will be the first to see what they did to her. As mentioned the Star has had the International Cafe, and Vines for some time. The Star is one of our favorites, so looking forward to sailing on her again.;)

They aren't removing the Skywalker's . On the Grand they removed it because of the weight factor . All Skywalkers where built of aluminum except the Grand.

I can't remember the exact date, but she is going in very soon. Information has been hard to come by though as to what exactly is happening with her dry dock. We are sailing her next March to HI. I don't think that Skywalkers is going away, if that helps.
