ISLAND DIVA Posted May 22, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 22, 2011 Celebrity has changed the order of the ports visited on the Oct.23 /11 Solstice cruise.By doing this it the port visit for Rome falls on November 1 which is all saints day a public holiday therefore the Vatican Museum will be closed ,this is a great disappointment .Does anyone know if we can still visit the Basilica on that day. Also the port of Nice has been changed to Marseilles. We are seriously thinking of cancelling the cruise. We have already booked vacation time and our airline tickets. We have received no notification of the changes from Celebrity. alcpa1 Posted May 22, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 22, 2011 Have you joined the Roll Call for your sailing? If not, please do so and post the information there too if it has not already been posted. If the Vatican Museum is closed it is highly likely the Basilica will also be closed for holy day observances. We went through the museum before entering the Basilica. Share your concerns on the Roll Call please.
Denny01 Posted May 22, 2011 #3 Share Posted May 22, 2011 The Basilica's website doesn't show it closed but if you aren't happy with the changes go ahead and cancel. Den
Rare cruisestitch Posted May 22, 2011 #4 Share Posted May 22, 2011 This has been discussed in this thread, and you might want to hook up with these people for further information. As others have suggested -- the Roll Call for your cruise also has further information: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1415369&highlight=october+23+changes
