ducklite Posted May 24, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 24, 2011 I don't know of ANY cruise lines with a 24 hour buffet. How much do you people eat, anyway, LOL!? You can order room service 24 hours a day. You won't go hungry.
audrey248 Posted May 24, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted May 24, 2011 Hi we are just curious, we have only cruised once before with Princess and they have 24 hour buffet. is it true that Disney shut everywhere down at midnight? Thanks:)

Thanks:) Disney does shut down pretty early, it's not a "party" boat. If you are looking for major nightlife as part of your cruise experience, DCL is probably not the right cruise for you. Friend100 Posted May 24, 2011 #5 Share Posted May 24, 2011 Hi can anybody tell me if its true that everywhere shuts down at midnight on the Magic and also is there a 24 hour food buffet. Thanks.:) You've read it, you don't want to believe it, and you want someone to tell you that's not the case? The Arcade is 24 hours, Guest Service Desk is 24 hours, self-serve beverage station and room service are 24 hours. Sorry there is no casino on the ship. audrey248 Posted May 24, 2011 Author #6 Share Posted May 24, 2011 We are just trying to get a basic idea of how it is on the Magic, we are not party animals by any means, we will have our 2 young children with us so it wont really matter if they shut down early. We are travelling on friday from uk and doing the Med cruise. Thanks for all the info.:)

You can order room service 24 hours a day. You won't go hungry. It is actually the norm to have a 24 hour buffet on a cruise ship. However, it is one of the areas where some US cruise lines have made cuts. The Disney Magic buffet is open for incredibly short periods of time. It was the only aspect of our cruise that I could fault! But you should be aware of it. You come back from going ashore in a port and want a late lunch? You are out of luck - its room service or a burger at the grill on deck.

I've sailed on RCCL and DCL, and have researched Regent and WindStar for upcoming cruises and none of them have a 24 hour buffet. That's a pretty varied market segment. Other than Princess, what other cruise lines have 24 hour buffets?
SallyUK Posted May 26, 2011 #11 Share Posted May 26, 2011 I've sailed on RCCL and DCL, and have researched Regent and WindStar for upcoming cruises and none of them have a 24 hour buffet. That's a pretty varied market segment. Other than Princess, what other cruise lines have 24 hour buffets? I wonder if the OP has previously sailed on Ocean Village, a now defunct UK cruise line that was part of P&O Princess. It had a buffet that was open really long hours, something like 23 and a half and for many Brits (DH included) that was their first experience of cruising. Also NCL has Blue Lagoon (more comfort food than buffet) which is open 24 hours a day. These were our first two cruiselines and so we were quite surprised sailing Disney for the first time. It's not a bad thing, we aren't even that big eaters, its just a matter of understanding what you are getting when the offer is so different. ETA: The big difference for us was not so much being able to eat at gone 11pm, it was more an issue of coming back from a tour or looking around a new destination and not being able to grab a light meal rather than a sandwich or a burger, if that makes sense. marylizcat Posted May 27, 2011 #16 Share Posted May 27, 2011 British cruise lines, P & O and Thomson certainly have 24 hour buffets. RCI's Windjammer was definitely open pretty well all day - I never checked it at night! MSC's was open all day. Princess is 24 hour. Disney shut at 2pm at lunch-time, which is incredibly early. As has been said, you come back from going ashore wanting lunch and you are too late!

jrsegrl Posted May 28, 2011 #20 Share Posted May 28, 2011 NCL ships have a 24 hour restaurant - Blue Lagoon. Sort of a limited menu diner type place. And depending on the cruise it can get pretty busy. Have to agree with the first poster. How much can you eat. (LOL) On one cruise though my college age son met a few other kids his age. They stayed up late and seemed to get very hungry in the wee hours of the morning. Their only option was room service. In this instance it would have been nice to have a little area for them to go with some kind of food or snacks.
Brandis Posted May 31, 2011 #21 Share Posted May 31, 2011 RCL's Radiance class ships have the Seaview Cafe which is open pretty much all night, they serve pasta, sandwiches and fried food as well as soup. Also, the bigger RCL ships, Voyager-class and bigger, have a cafe on the promenade which also is open all night and serves sandwiches, pizzas etc.

Didn't know this was possible. Have you always been able to stay with children in the kids clubs? I thought parents just dropped their children off then picked them up.
