Hi,

We are sailing on the July 15th cruise and wanted to know if our credit card was sufficient for on board purchases. Do we need to take American dollars on board or just some Pacific Francs to use in ports? Also,we are staying for two days pre-cruise at the IC and wanted to know how much cash we would need in Papatee. We have no meals included in our pre-cruise stay. We are from New-Zealand and are trying to work out how much US and Pacific Francs to take with us. All advise appreciated.

There does not seem to be hardly anyone participating in the July 15 board so if you are out there please sign up. :)

The only cash I use on board is for the casino. If you purchase local items from vendors, or some local restaurants, you would need xpf at some of those places that do not take cards.

Now that the exchange is not open at the PPT airport you probably will get a better exchange at the IC than lets say the exchange at LAX.

Also keep in mind that most credit cards will charge you a few when you make purchases in FP. Capital One does not.

Thanks for that but can you exchange currency on board the ship? Say N-Z for US for the casino or US for Pacific Francs for use in ports:rolleyes:?

Mentioned this before. We have been to FP 3 times and never had a problem using US$ or a credit card. If they round up on the conversion I don't care as it's usually not excessive. US$ never refused.:)

Well I think we will just take mainly XPF with us then. I will convert a few of our NZ dollars to US before we go for a flutter in the casino. Our exchange rate is quite good at the moment so makes things more reasonable for a change. Thanks for your help.:p
