and plenty of towels
not so in the men's changing area by the afternoon. Many's the time I've had to make a call in order to get towels sent up. Carnival has a full-time attendant in the locker area to make sure that fresh towels are always available and also to keep the room in order.

What type of selection is there in the Windjammer for lunch? We found that, on smaller ships like Enchantment and Majesty, there was less selection, whereas Liberty had everything the small ships had plus more, i.e., sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, fries--in addition to the pasta, meat, vegetable, etc. stations.

Explorer will be similar to Liberty.

We are taking EOS in January 11 days, out of Bayonne, and will be stopping in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Does anyone know which port in San Juan we will be docking at, or how I can find out, Thanks Terri

We were on Liberty last summer and docked in San Juan. We docked right in front of the Marriott casino. When we walked off the ship all the little shops and touristy things were right there. I'm not sure where the other port is, but I think that is the main one.

She'll be docking in Old San Juan.

Many thanks for the info on San Juan, I am trying to remember, is this right by the Fort? Any suggestions about what is best to do there, we will be arriving at 2 pm, Thanks again , Terri

I highly recommend the Segway tour. Great excursion.

I have pictures in my review of our recent cruise on the Explorer, and there are some pictures of the Segway tour we took.

Also, the fort is quite a distance from the pier. I would not recommend a walking tour, as you will cover a couple of miles.

Each time we were in SJ we walked to one of the forts. San Cristobal is closer - you can see it from the dock and then just walk towards it. It is mostly uphill, so if you have any mobility issues this would be tough. And, once you are at the fort, it is quite steep walks up and down the levels. I found this fort to be extremely interesting and there was more in the ways of explanation. El Morro, on the other hand is a bit farther, but not as steep of a walk. You could take a quick taxi ride there, but I would definitely recommend walking back. It is SO easy to walk back and it is downhill. El Morro has beautiful views!!!!

Since you are arriving later in the day I strongly suggest that should the fort be your choice to see, do it asap upon arrival. If my memory serves me correctly, the forts close at 5:00 pm.

If this is wrong, someone PLEASE correct me.

Tim

We have never done a b2b on the Explorer. What happens ? Do we get off the ship and have to take the bus back to the terminal & wait there till the ship is cleared?

According to my DS, who has done a b2b and is planning another, they escort you off and lead you immediately around and re-board.

We did a B2B on LOS. I don't think I would do it again. It was Eastern and then Western Caribbean so it was a different itinery but the food and entertainment was the same. You do have a RCCL staff person who will take you off the ship to clear customs but you do not have to take your luggage. We had the same cabin so we were able to leave our luggage. There was a special breakfast for B2B passengers.

Looking to book this one too. Would love to see the latest menus. Haven't been on RCCL,Explorer for about 4 years now.

Ditto...I'm subscribed to this thread but haven't been receiving new posts in my email. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

I learned of a new website cruise docs. They are asking people to scan and submit their Compasses. Check it out. They have mostly Oasis stuff now but getting the word out will help getting others to participate.

Hi everyone. We are sailing on Explorer for the 2nd time. I don't recall from the last time, but does anyone know if there is chili-dogs anywhere on the Explorer? This time we are sailing with my parents and I'm really excited, and my mom has been asking about chili-dogs (it's her favorite afternoon snack), I'd love to tell her yes but I don't know for sure. Thanks

Yes, you can get chili dogs at Johnny Rockets on deck 12.

I also recall that there were chili dogs in the Windjammer during the late afternoon snack time (maybe 4-6p?). Actually, I really liked the selection at the WJ during the snack time. We always eat at the late dinner and we enjoyed having a little something around 5 to tide us over (because we sure wouldn't ever want to feel hungry on a cruise:D)
