Hmm? I don't think Venice is a late night city with clubs for dancing. You will find the outdoor orchestras in San Marco Square but if you are young and looking for DJ type dance clubs then it will NOT be for you!

This is the only info I could find that mentions dancing from Frommers on line:

If you really need that disco fix, you're best off at Piccolo Mondo, Dorsoduro 1056, near the Accademia (tel. 041-520-0371; vaporetto: Accademia). Billed as a disco/pub, it serves sandwiches during lunch to the sounds of America's latest dance music, offers a happy hour in the late afternoon in winter, and often features live music. But the only reason you'd want to come is if you want a disco night (summer only); the club is frequented mostly by curious foreigners and the young to not-so-young Venetians who seek them out. It's open daily from 10pm to 4am in summer, and 10am to 4pm and 5 to 8pm in winter.

Another dance club that seems to be surviving is Casanova (tel. 041-275-0199 or 041-534-7479), near the train station on Lista di Spoagna 158A. The bar and restaurant open at 6pm, but at 10pm the bar becomes a disco open until 4am (the restaurant stays open until midnight). Admission is often free (if you arrive before midnight), though sometimes there's a 5¬ ($6.50) or higher cover that includes the first drink. Wednesday is salsa night; Thursday is rock, pop, alternative, and indie; Friday is dance music; and Saturday brings in house and progressive DJ music.

Venice is not known for it's late night scene. In fact, even dinner is earlier than most European cities. Most restaurants and bars are closing by 11:00 pm. There are some bars near Rialto open until 1:30 of so.

Your best bet is Campo Santa Margherita - specifically Paradiso Perduto on Fondamenta della Sensa (according to Rick Steve's Book).

Very little in the way of dancing due to everything being so close together. Piccolo Mondo el Souk near Accademia is the best bet. You have to ring the bell to get in evidently - Calle Corfu 1056a - Open 11:00 pm - 4:00 am - 10 Euro cover includes one cocktail drinks after that are all 10 Euro phone: 041-520-0371 (again this is from Rick Steves' book)

It's a bit of an overstatement to say there are no young people in Vence, but it's not so far off either, unfortunately. Venice has become prohibitively expensive as a place to live and, as there are few employment opportunities on the islands outside of tourism (hotels, restaurants, retail stores) or government sector jobs, young people tend to move inland and don't hang out in Venice at night.

Families have figured out that they can live in larger, newer homes on the mainland while renting out their apartments in Venice to tourists and be economically better off. As more and more go this route, Venice is becoming a city of where the tourists outnumber the residents and it does change the feeling of the place. With each passing year it feels more and more like they simply turn off the lights and close the place down at about 11 PM.

That said, Venice is still completely charming.

I know someone said that there aren't any clubs to go to, but there definitely is! I was backpacking there a few years ago, and we had such fun nights out in several different clubs - they call them discos!

I honestly can't remember the name of any of them, but they are hidden in the mazes of Venice anyways, but what we did was just ask people our age that we saw at the bar. Then we would just go with them to the disco in a group, and it was a ton of fun - there aren't a ton of young people in Venice, but you would be surprised at how many discos there are, some insanely packed!

So my advice is to ask locals (that hopefully speak English if you don;t know Italian), or ask any young people you see - most likely the travelers will know exactly where to go.
