Suggest itinerary Nice/Monte Carlo in a day

HI, I'm porting in Villefranche next week. I do all tours on our own. First time in this area and would like to do Nice / Monte Carlo (and perhaps Eze if possible). Would like to do by train. I understand train stops are all within 20 mins or so apart.

I'm from NYC so I'm used to taking the trains everywhere.

So that I don't waste a whole lot of time in any one place. Could someone please suggest an itinerary that would cover the major points, and order of preference.

THank You

The only thing I found on my research is alot of people saying out nice Eves was, Cannes was nice. Monaco was nice, Nice was nice... LOL they are all nice.. I want to go to Monaco to see grand casino and prince's palace and just see the rich and famous stuff.. I have no idea whats in the other places, just that I heard they were nice places.

So my itinerary request was actually to request some of the major things I should see as well

Then you have not really done any research. If you don't want to check a guidebook for the area out of the library or even purchase one, there are many, many travel webpages, such as frommers.com and fodors.com, lonelyplanet, etc. that will tell you what the highlights are in these cities.

You can google the terms, "what is there to see in Monaco" for example, and it will pull up info. You can go to tripadvisor.com, type in "Monaco" for the search term and it will take you to the Monaco page that will also have a list of the top attractions. Do this with every port stop and you will have more specific information than it's "nice".

You will not be able to go everywhere and see everything in one day.

I think you will have a wonderful time taking the train to the different towns on the French Riviera. The scenery along the coast is some of the most beautiful anywhere so just experiencing the view will be amazing. I loved Nice and Cannes and am glad that I went to both, as well as to Monte Carlo. See how the French enjoy life...having a coffee at the sidewalk cafes in Nice and perhaps lunch on the waterfront in Cannes...visiting the casino (they do have a dress code) in Monte Carlo, and walking around people watching..have a marvelous day!

I haven't seen Hank post in a while. Hopefully, he is enjoying travel somewhere. But I have taken his advice on buses in this area over trains and we will be taking the #100 bus to Nice this summer as well.

OP, where you go, depends on what you want to see. Nice is very different from the other places you mentioned as it is a city and not a medeival town. It has the Cours Saleya, Chagall Museum, Mattisse Museum, Promenade des Anglais, and Old Nice. But it appears as if you are more interested in Monaco. Have a great time.

Personally, I'd pick Nice or Monaco rather than try and do both. (Actually, I'll be on the Liberty next week and have picked Monaco rather than Nice).

In terms of gross sterotypes...

Monaco - fairytale playground, great for people/car/yacht watching and royal stuff

Nice - actual city, shops and markets where you might be able to afford stuff, art museums.

Eze - Take this with a grain of salt, since I've never been... but it seems like a very pretty spot up high on the cliffs. And that's about it.

Don't overlook Villefranche itself as a destination.
