What kind of cabin do you prefer?

Recommended Posts

I am just wondering what kind of cabin you all prefer?

My fiance and I are kind of cheap when it comes to cruising. We always book interior. I always tell our PVP just to find me the cheapest cabin. I also like the idea of the sun not coming in..because if my body sees the sun it decides that it is time to get up..LOL.

The rest of my family prefers balconies.

So I was just wondering what everyone else prefers and why?

No reason for this thread..I guess more just for fun and curiosity.

we usually book Insides as we don't see the point in spending a ton of cash on a balcony or OV cabin that is going to Basically serve the same purpose. We also like the darkness in the cabin as well. Plus we figure we don't spend that much time in the cabin anyway. It would be nice sometimes to walk out on our own balcony and sit a little but we can just head up to an open deck and presto a huge balcony;) Plus we feel that we would feel the need to spend more time in the cabin/balcony to justify the extra $ spent. And hey cruising insides allows us to cruise more often.:D

I cruise solo and don't see the need for a balcony for me. I'm just not in my cabin that much. My preference is an oceanview because I'm a morning person and I like the natural light. The view doesn't matter, so an obstrucfted OV or a porthole is fine. I will, however, book an inside if it's a big difference in price.

My Favorite cabin that we ever had was a Lido Balcony but probably wont ever spend that much again... That time we were with a Wedding Group

I do like Balconies but I dont need one. For one we are never in our cabin and my husband is always on the go and now that they are changing the smoking rules they will be way too smokey. I have had problems in the past with the smoke and can only imagine what it will be like come Dec.

OV are nice if we have our kids with us because you get extra space but if its just the 2 of us an Inside will do just fine.. I do like 4J's & 4K's... OV with an Inside Price.

After cruising with everything from a Carnival inside cabin to an NCL 2 bedroom family villa, I can say that the nicer your room and larger with balcony features, the more time we spend in the cabin. The problem with an inside for me is that it is too dark and you do not know when it is day or night. This leads to sleeping too much and missing out on the cruise. With that said, ever since we cruised with a suite, we have not been able to go back. IMHO, the price for a suite with an extra large balcony is well worth it, as my wife and I spend a lot of time there each night before we go to bed, or early in the morning with our coffee and paper (e-version of course). Depending on the line the suite perks also make it worth while.

With all of the foregoing stated, I have never done a Carnival suite, but do have one booked for the Miracle next April and I am looking forward to it.

On my first cruise we booked an OV and found that was fine, however when I saw the sun I wanted to feel it too so from the point forward we booked a balcony and we actually really enjoy it. I like having a spot to take pictures of the sunset/sunrise without getting fully dressed and having to go to the upper decks to take pics. I also find it a great place to sit and have a drink while DH is getting ready for dinner or to enjoy early morning room service while DH is sleeping. In Jan 2012 I am possibly booking an inside for the first time with friends since it's $239 and it's just a quick getaway.

We will not sail without a balcony. I enjoy getting up early and just walking out on the balcony to get some fresh air and enjoy the view of the ocean. It is also a quiet place to relax during the day away from all of the crowds.

Depends on the length of the cruise. Anything 5 days or more and it has to be a balcony. If it is a short cruise, inside is good because I will probably nap a couple of hours each day and love the total darkness. Add a good A/C and rocking of the ship I will sleep better than a baby.

We do go for value and can cruise three times inside for the price of two balcony cruises..We do not spend a lot of time in our room but if you do you might want a balcony...Have done three cruise with balconies and did not use them enough to pay that extra $...We use that money in the casino or in the ports...:)...Dennis

I usually cruise in a 1A and so does my friend. On Princess we were asked to give up our single cabins because they overbooked and upgraded to a premium suite with aft balcony. Back on Carnival this year and since there is no more 1A pricing for singles we decided to share an ocean suite on deck 7. I've stayed in 1A, inside, OV and now suite. No portholes yet.

We love the balcony. We can spend time in the room, watch the blue skies and ocean, flying fish, dolphins, turtles, etc. and never feel like we are holed up in a hotel room. We still feel like we are on vacation on the balcony. It is nice in the AM with our coffee and in the PM with a cocktail. Also, we can prop open the door at night and it is very romantic. It means we only go on a major cruise (7 days or more) every other year, but we don't scrimp on it. We spend whatever and don't worry about it. I love cruising and would love to go more, but don't like anything less than 5 days or nights. It is just a personal thing.

Gotta have my woosh, woosh, woosh sound to take my afternoon nap on sea days. Had an OV on my first cruise, but lived on the Promendade or Lido because you feel trapped in those rooms IMO. I knew from that point on would always get a balcony. Now - I live on my balcony and in my stateroom and you will seldom see me about ship during the days.

Had an inside the first time and a balcony the second time. We will never go back to an inside. We enjoy waking up and having breakfast on the balcony, or at least coffee. We enjoy being on our balcony at sail-away. We love to have cocktails at night just before bed, sitting on the balcony. I also let my hair dry by sitting out there and putting on makeup (great lighting) Other than that we aren't in the room, but those things alone are the reason we LOVE our balcony rooms.
