Free Cruise from Casino at Sea!!

Recommended Posts

I thought I read that somewhere.....but now when I go back and look, I can't find anything about a free drink card....where did you see this??? That could be worth about another $100-$200 for us........hmmmmmmmmm

If we 'pass' on this deal.....do you think they will send another one at a later time??

Every time you are a guest of CAS you get the free drink card - I am assuming you have never used the CAS discount or comp before? I usually get about 5 or 6 of these offers per year, and have yet to take advantage of one - but this one seems kind of odd, with players with low (or no) recorded level of play, so who knows... Perhaps they are just using them to "test the waters".. I noticed there is a written expectation of play on this one, not sure if I have seen that on other offers - but generally if one plays the same way as they have done before, the offers will keep coming.

WOW - I missed that part! (and I read the 'fine print' - but there was a sticker w/ barcode thing covering the bottom).

I would assume that they would only 'expect' you to play based on your history of playing. right??! We didn't even get anything off our OBC with our play on EPIC. Thought they had changed something about the way they recorded the play, as we did get $$ off OBC on our Dawn cruises...and we always spend about the same amount in the casino.

Anyway...we took advantage of this offer - and it was the first of this type we have received...however, we were guests of CAS on the EPIC (booked w/CAS Discount - certainly not 'free'!)

We think we got a nice deal on this upcoming cruise - worked out to be about 1/2 off the website price for a BA Balcony. Not bad! :D

Don't know if it is true or not, but the last time we tried to get a hotel shuttle to the pier they told us they weren't allowed to do that. They did have a shuttle service to the airports, so it wasn't that they didn't have the vehicle to do it.

Probably some deal the city has with the taxi companies.

I think I've gotten a few CAS offers before, but never really looked closely at them....they were probably for just 20% off or something...but this one caught my attention with the 'complimentary' stateroom offer....

I should probably just go ahead and book this.....we will never be able to sail on the EPIC any cheaper than this (and free drinks too!!)....airfare is usually low at that time (between Thanksgiving and Christmas)....I can probably snag airfare for about $200 r/t pp ....

You would help folks out if you named the city and hotel.

How so?

It's no different than you walking into a dry cleaner and saying "Here are 10 shirts. I'll pay you $1.99 for each........but in return, I expect you to clean them."

Expectations of play give a measurable guideline of why the cruise is free. It would appear, since these players have no history....that CAS is recruiting new potential players.

Those who choose to participate, know the parameters going in.

I don't see that as cheesy at all.

May make sense for players with no history, just as if I go to a new Harrahs location I haven't been to before they offer me a room but nothing more until I prove my play. I understand that concept, but if anyone is getting it with established play thats where the "cheesy" part of my post came from.

I just found a Choice Hotel (Rodeway Inn) right in between the airport and the cruise port that offers free transportation from the airport and to the cruise terminal....(for less than $75 with our AARP discount)...the reviews have been pretty good (from what I've read so far)....the usual, free internet, continental breakfast, pool, etc....

And coming back, cruise port to airport, taxi...flat rate fee $24-$26....(unless someone knows a better deal?)

We always go to casino bar, show card, get wine to drink on way to dining or on balcony

You might be "getting away with it" but that is not the spirit in which the card is provided. Too much of such behavior is taking advantage of the program. Once or twice in a week is fine, but repeated abuse by several people may cause the CAS drink card benefit to be revoked, like other benefits have been revoked over the years for misuse.

Where is the "spirit of the law" written? Pit boss handed me a CAS tee shirt & hat, with wine in hand, knowing we were going to dinner. I average $100 per hand, maybe they understand the economics of a few glasses of wine to go. We ARE discreet!

The "spirit of the law" is written directly on the CAS drink card - "Just display this card for FREE house brand drinks and beverages while playing." a few glasses of wine to go is fine, but there are several people on this board who take it to the extreme, actually boasting about drinking free all week and not playing at all. Posting about taking advantage of something on occasion usually leads to more people taking advantage more often, and expectations rise. And over the years, we have seen many benefits taken away because of this escalation. The key thing is to be discreet by NOT posting about such matters on a public board, where others read and expect it will be the same for them. I certainly understand That hosts and PBs can look the other way ;) and also provide much much more than a few free drinks, but discretion is very important, both during and after your cruise.

CAS does not bill Harrah's (guess it's Caesars now) back for drinks, the two programs are not linked on any spreadsheet, only by ownership. Your drink card was actually provided by and said "Harrah's" on it? was it not attached to your CAS card at boarding?

PS: I was using Harrahs free drink card not CAS, maybe that makes a difference, they might bill back Harrahs & not care about # of drinks.

Not if you were on the ship, it's then through CAS. Harrahs gives you over to CAS kind of like putting you in the good hands of their cousin to look after you while you are there. No such thing on the ship that I know of as a "Harrahs" drink card. All of my cruises have been booked through Harrah/Caesars.

It's not I haven't been playing and ordered a drink that has been unfinished and carried it with me. Carry it out / waste it, I'll choose to carry it out. But as fishbait said those that abuse it by purposely ordering at the casino bar to take out will only end up ruining it for all. Since eventually they will stop offering it.

This is an interesting thread, I have cruised with Norwegian a couple of times now and I don't know what your all talking about.

I googled CAS and all I see is a credit application to apply for credit for what?

Where would you put the card in the machine? The last few times I sailed I had to use my room key card in the slot machine. (maybe Norwegian doesn't do that but I thought they did) Anyway, is there something we can do ahead of time to get this card or just wait until we go? I have 4 sea days so I might be in there a bit...if I am winning. lol

No, NCL's player card system is different from other lines. For instance, on RCCL you use your sign&sail card in the machines, and can carry a balance on the card - your wins and losses are added to/deducted from the cash balance on the card.

Putting your room key card in the machine does nothing, as far as I know. On NCL the CAS card is obtained from the casino manager's desk. This is a separate card from your room key/shipboard account card. It does not carry any cash value.

You put the CAS card in the same slot you were putting the room key card in. The small video display panel should then show your name. From that point on, every dollar you risk is being tracked and you should begin to see points accumulate on the display (I think...been 8 months since my last cruise, and can't remember specifically if you get a point accumulation as you do with player cards on land based casinos).

If you are not already a member of the Harrah's Total Rewards system, then you will have to wait until you board to go to the casino and get the CAS card from the desk there. If you are a TR member, and your trip was booked through CAS, your CAS card will be waiting for you in your cabin when you arrive.

In addition, if you spend enough time (and money, LOL!) in the casino you may be able to get a credit toward your onboard bill or a free drink card.

Just sign up for the card when you get onboard and use it everytime you play, slots or table games. Depending on your play, when you are ready to book your next cruise you can call CAS to see what they will offer you.

Have fun!

I read about the free drink card for CAS and HARRAHS guests on these boards and called NCL to confirm. Yes, the free drink card is supposed to be in your cabin awaiting you when you arrive on board. It is good for free drinks at the bar in the casino or when you are a seated player in the casino.

I have a question.....hoping someone that has taken advantage of this offer knows the answer.....

If I go ahead and book an inside cabin via this offer through CAS.... can I upgrade to a balcony cabin later?? (as long as there is one available) Or will they cancel the original booking and treat it like a 'new booking' (in which case we would not get the deal).....
