andmad Posted July 8, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 8, 2011 It is either the main dining room, Tsar's or the buffet or Great Outdoors. They seem to try to steer you towards the buffet, but I would go to Tsar's.

jaja Posted July 8, 2011 #4 Share Posted July 8, 2011 Tsars ! Never could understand why they steer everyone to buffet:confused:..SO overcrowded upon boarding and when like that..not a good first impression of NCL dining:eek:
ecclectic-eccentric Posted July 8, 2011 #5 Share Posted July 8, 2011 We ate at Tsar's right after boarding, and it was nearly deserted. The food was great, the service attentive, and the atmosphere relaxing. ee
Hockey19 Posted July 8, 2011 #6 Share Posted July 8, 2011 Looking for a nice quite sitdown for 2 families....any suggestions? Not sure about "Quite" but Tsar's will be quieter (and easier) than the Buffet. Seating in the Buffet ,as on all depatrture days.will be a struggle. The aft open air dining (Great Outdoors) might be worth a look. If you snag tables, It's a great place to dine. You didn't say if you are in a suite. Cagney's will be available if you are suite level.
Richpontone Posted July 8, 2011 #7 Share Posted July 8, 2011 If you come late to the ship, you miss the sit down waitered lunch. I think the buffet lunch goes to 3:30 pm

roger001 Posted July 9, 2011 #10 Share Posted July 9, 2011 Actually, we like just sitting out on the pool deck, snacking from all the items served out there, having a beverage, and people watching. Then we have a nice evening meal later.
NYGiants1331 Posted July 9, 2011 #11 Share Posted July 9, 2011 Don't go to the buffet when you first board! Horrible experience with way too many people pushing and looking for tables.
david_sobe Posted July 9, 2011 #12 Share Posted July 9, 2011 YES Stay clear of any buffet on any ship on ebarkation day. It is a madhouse. Go to the MDR for a nice sit down meal where you all can sit together. One reason I think the buffet is so crowded is that most dont know there is another restaurant open. And I think people want to check out the pool when they get on board and eat near the pool. The Jewel was my first cruise and I did the same. I got a plate of food from the buffet and sat outside to eat. Now I know and head to the open MDR to sit, eat, relax, and stay away from the crowds.
