Port or Starboard balcony Egypt/Agean

We currently have an inside and I may decide to change to a balcony on the Star Egypt/Agean itinerary. Any advice on which side is better for this cruise or does it not really matter. Ports are Civitavecchia,Alexandria,Khios, Istanbul, Kusadasi, Athens, Naples.

Thanks in advance.

The only time it matters is the sailing into Istanbul when being on the port side in a balcony gets you the best views. Of course, sailing out of Istanbul is better on the starboard side.

You also have great views when going through the Messina Strait, but the views are really on both sides of the ship.

Do you have an opinion on port vs. starboard from Venice around Italy, along the Riviera & around the Iberian Penisula?

We did this itinerary in 2007 with a balcony and the views coming into Istanbul made the cost totally worth it, it was breathtaking. If you can swing it, I'd strongly suggest a balcony.

We were on the starboard side for this itinerary in May. On the way south, we passed by the volcanic island of Stromboli on our side, and Messina, Sicily as we cruised through the Strait.

We were docked facing the skyline of both Istanbul and Alexandria.

Starboard side got great sunset views of Istanbul as we sailed out of the harbor, and wonderful scenic views of the Calabria coastline on the way up to Naples.

Thanks for the help. We are in a balcony port side now on the Egypt/Agean cruise.

We did a starboard balcony on Golden in 2006 from Rome to Venice and that view was also worth every penny as we sailed into Venice. It was also great for Monte Carlo too as we had a fabulous view of the city from our balcony.
