Need some help for fun things to do in Ketichan, skagway, and juneau. We are going dogsledding in skagway (cart) but will still have some free time after that. In Juneau we are planning on mendenhall glacier and a trip to red dog saloon. Ketichan hoping to visit creek street but otherwise not sure what else. I know there are totem poles to look at but that really doesn't interest me. Need help please!!

-Have you looked at the excursion list provided by your cruiseline?

-Another great resource is to look thru the REVIEWS forum; specifically member reviews of Ports. Travelers usually provide trip reports with detailed information on sights and activities they enjoyed.

-Borrow an Alaska travel book from the library. There are even a few books specific to Alaska cruises that provide information on EACH port with suggestions of things to do. (Ann Vipond, Alaska by cruiseship)

-Google 'town name visitor information'. Most towns have web sites to provide info on tourist activities. They will also send you a free visitors guide.

-You could also just look down the first 2 pages of this forum to find plenty of information.

You should, as suggested, look at the ship's excursion list -- you can do these on your own as well, but it will give you some ideas. Searches on the Internet will help as well.

But you came here for suggestions. In Juneau you can go whale watching, glacier trekking, go up Mt. Roberts' tram. In Ketchikan you can take a float plane to Misty Fjords, and land on one of the tiny lakes and get out of the plane and walk around. In Skagway, you can take a train, van or bus trip to Chillkoot or all the way to Emerald Lake. There are other options as well, but these are what people in our group did and enjoyed a great deal.
