Nightlife - Celebrity Summit

Please forgive me if this information is here somewhere already - I've been searching for hours and cannot really find what I'm looking for. I read a couple of reviews that mentioned that things shut down around 11 pm. While my husband and I are not necessarily huge partiers, we do like to have the option of going to a dance club or bar until at least 1 am. Can any of you experienced folks give me your thoughts. Thanks so much. Cindy

Hi Cindy:) you will get varying opinions (just like everything else

on here). Are you going on her to the Caribbean or Bermuda?

I have sailed Summit 4 times and will be going again in September:D

so I guess you could say I like the ship;)

Evening events/bars/lounges/....depending on how busy the

places are they will definitely stay open beyond 11:00pm or beyond

midnight as well. They have the late show in the theater which normally

starts at 9 (for early diners) and I know they usually have other

things offered after that show is over. Whether it is the disco,

Karaoke, or listening to the String Quartet in Cova, there are

bars and lounges open beyond 11. And I know some folks

say "Karaoke"??? Yes, they have it. I will watch sometimes and

have a drink.....it can be fun.

Now when you say a "Dance Club"? Summit has Revelations which

would be considered the disco in the evenings. It is located all the

way forward on the ship, upstairs. (above the pool). During the

day they hold activites in there too.

They sometimes have a DJ in there and sometimes there is other

nighttime entertainment in there too......I know they held "Dancing

with The Stripes" in there when I sailed her in Februrary.

Once the show finished, the DJ played and people danced....can't

remember when it cleared out....but I know the dancefloor had folks

dancing.

Hope this helps a bit:)

Thanks for responding Lois. We have a deposit down for the southern caribbean in February '12. It is our first cruise and I'm excited to try it. We've previously gone the all-inclusive type trips and are looking for something different.

Oh, you are going on her after her "Solstization" takes place. They

will have some new venues, but for you, it will all be new since you

won't know any different;)

I think it just depends on how busy things are. We were on Equinox in January and while there were a few things open later, not much went on late. We still had a great time and love Celebrity.

We also love Celebrity and will be sailing the Summit to Bermuda on the 24th. One thing I have noticed over the years is that every cruise has a different vibe, and it's hard to predict how lively a particular cruise will be. I do have to say that, overall, Celebrity is a quieter, more elegant and sedate cruise line than say NCL or RCi or even Princess. In our experience, there is not much going on late into the evening. Entertainment in our opinion is not a strong suit -- that doesn't mean it is non-existent, just more limited. For instance, on most nights (formal nights are the exception) late diners have their show BEFORE dinner, and we have found there isn't much to do after dinner other than the casino or a quiet drink in one of the lounges. I am not saying this to be negative, just to make sure you are prepared for the possibility.

Hi Cindy,

We were on the June 26 sailing to Bermuda and there were definitely activities (dance parties, etc.) late into the night, usually in Revelations. It is stated policy that as long as patrons are buying drinks the bar will stay open! Celebrity does cater to a slightly older, more sophisticated crowd so you might find it a little more sedate than some other cruise lines and there will probably be fewer young people onboard at that time of year. However, Celebrity strives to make the cruise experience outstanding for everyone. If you intereact with the cruise director, ask staff where the liveliest late night activity is occurring, etc., you'll surely find like-minded cruisers and have a fun time late into the night!:D Have a blast!
