jtamchay Posted July 15, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2011 Two things happened today...one week from our leaving for Stockholm. We are on an oversold cruise...we were offered the option of going on a different cruise which was dismissed out of hand due to air fare already purchased. We also were offered a cabin change from a PH2 to a A3 with a 839.00 per person refund above the lowered cabin rate for the shift downwards... It was cabin 7099 offered. Initially we purchased an A1 cabin and upgraded to PH2 due to size of cabin. We declined this offer as we want the cabin size of the PH2. Hope some others are getting offers... We too were offered a refund for a downgrade on an oversold Regatta cruise (New England). Did not take it; would have considered an upgrade at a fair price though. Mura Posted July 16, 2011 #3 Share Posted July 16, 2011 And we were offered a switch from a PH on the Alaska cruise leaving Vancouver on 8/14 to a VS on the Rome-Istanbul Marina cruise leaving on 8/21. We jumped at the chance! No change in fare with another $200 in SBC. I checked the Alaska cruise a couple of hours ago and it's wait listed all the way down. The replacement cruise is wait listed for Owners and Oceania Suites, but everything else is wide open. Also, the CC roll call for this cruise is pretty non-existent ... jtamchay Posted July 16, 2011 Author #7 Share Posted July 16, 2011 Would you have considered a move off offer to another itinerary with an upgrade? No...this itinerary was why we chose the cruise and the dates worked for us...perhaps some other time we would have taken the change if we had already done the already booked itinerary...just wasn't what we had in mind this time. I am sure others are being offered changes to work out for Oceania.
Paulchili Posted July 16, 2011 #8 Share Posted July 16, 2011 Would you have considered a move off offer to another itinerary with an upgrade? We were offered that before but declined as we are doing a B2B with Seabourn from Quebec City to NYC followed by Regatta on same day out of NYC (different POC). Mura Posted July 16, 2011 #10 Share Posted July 16, 2011 No, it's for this October. So we're just postponing our cruise a couple of months. We leave for Rome on October 18th, board the ship on the 21st and leave it on November 2nd. We'll stay another two days in Istanbul. Can't wait! Ah yes, I remember our chatting about that very thing! It should be a super "B2B".:) We once did a similar "back to back" on two different lines and found it to be very interesting, plus a great way to compare two cruise lines. Both were Vancouver round trips with slightly different itineraries. I'll be looking forward to your thoughts when you return. We considered the same Seabourn & Oceania back to back that you are doing, but couldn't take that much time in September to add the Seabourn cruise, and we really loved the Regatta itinerary and timing so stuck with that one. Then the move off offers started coming. I held firm for a very long time, and I hated having to give up the September 30th Canada/New England cruise on the Regatta (wonderful itinerary), but after many frequent move off offers from Oceania, we ultimately came to an agreement on a wonderful suite upgrade on our already-booked Alaska cruise, so we are very happy campers, so much so that we cancelled our long-booked Crystal Symphony cruise to Alaska. We hope very much that Oceania will do Canada/New England again in two years, as well as return to San Francisco (any itinerary will get us back onboard if it embarks in San Francisco). I must add that Oceania's much stricter smoking policy (than either Crystal or Seabourn) is also very important to us and factored into our decision to cancel the Symphony cruise altogether.
