brigittetom Posted March 22, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 22, 2005 We came home last week after an Eastern and Western B/B on the Horizon. This is not actually a review, just comments about our cruise. We were lucky to keep our same cabin for both cruises. It did take some effort with Celebrity to make this work but if you are willing to stay on the phone long enough, it will happen. A comment was made in the past that why would we expect Celebrity to accomodate us in the same cabin at the expence of someone elses cabin being changed. Goodness, all of the inside cabins are exactly the same and why would anyone object to being accommodated 4 doors down??? Mind you, these reservations are being made 6 months in advance and we did appreciate Celebritys help in accomodating us. We cruised on the Horizon about 4 years ago and have read many bad reviews on CC since. We decided to book anyway because our last expierience was a good one. A very wise choice. The Horizon obviously is an older ship but very well maintained. The Celebrity staff could not have done more to keep this ship in top shape. The staff was constantly cleaning as they do on all Celebrity ships and always friendly and always greeting the passengers. Our biggest surprise. The friendly staff in the Casino. In the past, on the Galaxy, the Zenith, the Summit, our expierence has always been that the casino staff has to turn in early. This is what we have been told by the casino Mgrs. and we accepted what we were told. On the Horizon cruise, we had casino Mgrs. that actually kept the casino open until the room was actually almost empty. On the same note, the Casino Mgrs. were actually friendly, helpful, and I'm guessing that since we haven't cruised in the last year that there have been complaints in the Casino and Celebrity has taken care of that problem also. Whatever they did, it works.
Rare Lois R Posted March 22, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 22, 2005 Hi Brigitte, welcome home:) though I am sure you would rather be back on the ship (me too). So, did you win lotsa $$$? Glad you had a good time!
Vic The Parrot Posted March 22, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 22, 2005 Could this be an extra incentive to book Horizon before she finally leaves?? It's always good to hear of staff who do these favours for the passengers. On Zenith last October, almost everyone on board ... from the barkeep in Rainbow Roon, to my fav waiter (Veronica) made me appreciate the special intimacy found on a smaller ship. I have to say .... Horizon and Zenith are the best ships in the fleet! :)
BuddyR Posted March 22, 2005 #4 Share Posted March 22, 2005 Brigettetom, My husband and I sail for the first time on the Horizon this Friday. We're doing the 10-night cruise. We've been very happy on the Infinity, Century, and Mercury but are a little concerned about this cruise also because of some negative comments. You said you made a very wise choice--what specifically did you find to be good. How was the food, entertainment, etc. Were there any good lectures--are they still doing the digital camera stuff? Thanks for any information. Laura

flyfan Posted March 22, 2005 #6 Share Posted March 22, 2005 Brigette, So glad you had a great time. When I saw your post I got all excited & thought you might be doing the b2b2b repo that may others are doing & that we would get to sail together. Oh well. I happy though that you & Tom got away for a bit (21 days, how awesome!) and thrilled silly that the Horizon is still the same fantastic ship that she's always been. It will be a miracle if I'm not crying upon disembarkation. hugs to you & T, ~fly

brigittetom Posted March 24, 2005 Author #8 Share Posted March 24, 2005 I just came across this post of mine. Go figure. I came home from the cruise totally happy and ended up with a full blown case of the flu. Yck. I'm sorry that I never came back to answer questions. Just for fun, I will tell you that we had a wonderful time on the Horizon and all those that complain, may not have enough invested in the cruise. Sorry, the service was great, actually I could go on and on but bottem line is that we do better. Call me. 593-1593.

brigittetom Posted March 26, 2005 Author #10 Share Posted March 26, 2005 Hi Shari, Thank you. Actually I was hoping this thread would disappear. I should know by now that being up til 5AM and posting is not such a good idea. We had a wonderful cruise and this one made it even harder to think outside of Celebrity. hdawson Posted March 26, 2005 #11 Share Posted March 26, 2005 Briggitte. So glad you enjoyed your cruise. I was on the ten day in Feb and this ship, crew and food could not be better. My second time on Horizon and it's one of my all time favorites. What a great size!
brigittetom Posted March 26, 2005 Author #12 Share Posted March 26, 2005 hdawson, I agree with you 100 %. You always seem to manage to be on a cruise right before us or right after. Nothing personal I hope. :) Obviously you are doing well with your health issues. Tom is also but I surely don't want to repeat that expierence.
