ccrain Posted July 22, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 22, 2011 We have just been informed today that a lawsuit in which we are being sued has a court date right in the middle of our next cruise. Final payment is 1 August. I plan to purchase CSA Deluxe within 24 hours of final payment to cover pre-existing conditions, but the CSA policy does say, in covered reasons: "6. being hijacked, quarantined (except as a result of a pandemic or epidemic), required to serve on a jury, or required by a court order to appear as a witness in a legal action." So for anyone with experience, does having to appear in a lawsuit against yourself count as a as a covered reason for cancellation?
ccrain Posted July 22, 2011 Author #2 Share Posted July 22, 2011 CSA has updated their policies to read: b. being hijacked, quarantined, required to serve on a jury, or required by a court order to appear as a witness in a legal action, provided you, a Family Member traveling with you or a Traveling Companion is not 1) A party to the legal action, or 2) Appearing as a law enforcement officer; So nope, not a covered event.... seacat65 Posted July 22, 2011 #3 Share Posted July 22, 2011 It all depends on how important this lawsuit is to you. If final payment is not till August 1st, then why not re-schedule your cruise, go to court and when its over, then re-book. That is what I would do. You asked and I told you. ;)

Good luck with that one.
6rugrats Posted July 24, 2011 #5 Share Posted July 24, 2011 You can't purchase insurance for a known event. It'd be like trying to get an auto policy after you wrecked your car. Either cancel the cruise or file for a continuance.
