I will never think RCI drink prices are high again

Recommended Posts

And that is reason number 1 why i don't drink. I would rather go on 2 cruises than on 1 cruise and drink!

As a moderate drinker, I agree with you. I do wonder how many people come close to matching the cost of their cruise to their bar tab.

That would be scary:eek: and perhaps a sign that either someone drinks too much or RCI drink prices ARE TOO HIGH (or perhaps both).

Okay - I don't know if you are scaring me - or trying to keep me out of the bars when I go to Vegas in Feb just before our Navigator cruise.
Oh, no. Those are real prices. Last time we were in Vegas (at the Mirage) my husband got me a Margarita and himself a beer. A bit later he said, "How's that drink?" I said it was fine, and he replied, "Good 'cause it cost $23." I didn't have a second. Couldn't afford it.
RCI prices are high. Just because you can find as high or higher prices elsewhere doesn't mean it's not expensive.

Remember drinks on board are made with duty free alcohol. If the prices are worth it to you, great but please don't try to convince me

it's a good deal!

Exactly. This just proves that the ships aren't the ONLY ONES who've figured out how to price gouge.

And in Vegas you can go down to the Freemont area and get $2 drinks all night long. On the ship, you're stuck paying the high prices.

Here at home I can get mixed drinks for $4-5, so the ship prices -- at about 50% higher -- don't look like a deal to me.

Prior to boarding Mariner we were buying good bottles of wine for 4 Euro, less then $6. Now that's good value.

RCI prices high compared to what?

We were at Paris Las Vegas last year as well. They had a 2 for 1 martini special in the bar in the middle of the casino and the menu conveniently didn't have an yprices on it. We asked the waitress and the martini price is $18 each! So 2 for 1 was still $18! We thought they must be on drugs!

Living & working in the NY/NJ metro area, $9-$10 (including tip) for a drink is actually not bad, and considered an average price for a libation in our neck of the woods (which we consider the center of the known universe). :)

I think you are confusing the center of the universe with a black hole....... Sorry I couldn't resist! But I do agree with your assessment on drink prices..

My bar tab for my wife and I, (mostly I) was more than it was for one of us to sail.

I think that comparing the ships price to land prices, so will find the ships price to be about the same, some will find it a bit less, and some will find it quite a bit more.

Living in Scottsdale, AZ, I find the price of a martini somewhere between $6.00 at happy hour, to $10-12 non happy hour prices in better restaurants.

Lately, we have been spending 3 day weekends at a place in Prescott Valley.......just to get away from the heat. We also found a new place to hang out and dine. Their non happy hour drinks are $3.95 and martini's are $5.00. Looking at those prices, makes me thing that the ship is charging waaaaaay too much money!!:D:D

Being Canadian - the land of high priced beer... the drink prices on the ship don't really phase me since we get a 12 pk of Corona for about $27 at the liquor store and pay about $5-6 in a restaurant for one... that being said - the first place I head when getting off in Grand Cayman or Cozumel is those lovely stores with the 3 for $3 signs in front of them :)

Just have to remember to toss my bottle opener in my backpack!

You would take something that's not yours?

People finish their drinks and leave the souvenier glasses when they get up to leave. Those glasses are all over the place. I think that is what was meant by this.

I have never picked up one myself by have seen them left and I do think that some passengers do not realize that they can keep the glass.
