Interested in seeing the island, would ask for any advise on tours or the like during the stay.

My first suggestion is that you bring sweater! Bermuda is not a tropical island, and it is likely to be quite cool (think high 50's or low 60's), in March.

Bermuda gets a lot of rain, which is why the lawns are so magnificent there.

They get grass to grow in places where we never could.

Because of the Marinas' size, you will likely be berthing at Kings Wharf at the old Royal Navy Dockyards

You probably should post this on your cruise roll-call for better response. Some of your fellow cruisers may already have tours lined up and are looking for partners. Anyway, we were on the Marina in April 2011 and we used a tour guide named Duke Soares who I highly recommend. We found his name on Cruise Critic and he had lots of recommendations. He has a 6 passenger van, very comfortable. He is a portuguese gentleman who has lived on Bermuda all his life. He will custom build a tour based on whatever you want to see and whatever time you have available. Up to four passengers his charge is $40.00 per hour (total - not pp). With 5-6 he charges $55.00 per hour (total). We had hime for 5-6 hours and he covered the island end-to-end. His e-mail address is dukesoares@gmail.com. Have a great trip. We loved it.

For your first foray in Bermuda, most people will want to take a tour of Hamilton, or more specifically, Front Street in Hamilton, which is where the action is.

Front_Street_Hamilton_Bermuda.jpg I don't think that I'd bother with a private tour in Bermuda, because, aside from being settled in the 1600's there isn't a lot going on.

There were forts built for battles that were never fought, a dockyard built to service ships in wars that were never declared......you get the picture.

Oceania will doubtless offer tours via ferry and motorcoach which will give you an overview of the island, cover the (few) significant historical sites, and give you ample time to shop for the woolens, textiles and linens for which Bermuda is famous.

One last thought- you may enjoy this two part video about the Queen of Bermuda circa 1965:

It shows a lot of the island.
