getting around nyc help please :)

Recommended Posts

We decided that we will stay at Sheraton Lincoln Harbor in Weehawken, NJ.

Can anyone familiar with the area tell me the cheapest way to get from the Greyhound bus station to the hotel and then to the port from the hotel?

Thank you so much for your help! :)

Friends used to live in Weehawken and would take a mini bus from 42nd St by the Port Authority. Might want to call the hotel and ask them if the bus stops by them

The hotel can tell you which bus to take from Port Authority which is probably where your Greyhound bus will arrive. To get to the Manhattan pier you would take the bus back to Port Authority. From there you can walk or take a cab. What day of the week are you doing this? You might be able to get a cross town bus on 42nd St to take you to 12th Ave.

We'd be getting to the hotel and staying over on a Sunday night...going to cruise on monday :)

I think the answers so far are missing something.

OP is arriving at the Port Authority Bus Terminal (we assume) on Sunday night and has to get from there to the Sheraton Lincoln Harbor in Weehawken, NJ.

First, to get from the bus terminal on a Sunday night to the NY Waterway pier on the Hudson River is probably going to require a taxi...not an expensive taxi, but a taxi regardless.

Second, on weekends there is no ferry service to Lincoln Harbor. OP has to take a ferry to Port Imperial and have the hotel pick them up there, assuming the hotel will have a shuttle available at whatever time they are expecting to arrive. OP needs to call the hotel to make sure the shuttle will be available at the time they expect to arrive, and ask the hotel what the best way will be to notify them, if necessary, that their arrival is imminent (perhaps something like a phone call when the OP is boarding the ferry).

On Monday, the trip back to Manhattan is much easier. There is the direct ferry from Lincoln Harbor back to NY, and then you have the choice of walking a few blocks to the cruise terminal (assuming we're talking about the Manhattan cruise terminal), taking a short taxi ride there, or the taking the NY Waterway shuttle bus. No need to take a bus back to Port Authority.

Well you assumed correctly, and this is extremely helpful. Thank you so much...I'll call the hotel and ask about the shuttle.
